- arlier this year, the U.S. Embassy in Rome partnered with the San Giorgio Library in Pistoia, Italy to create a space based on the YouMedia digital media learning center and the Makerspace/FabLab model. By using a variety of media creation tools, including software and hardware, including a 3D printer, users have the opportunity to express themselves through digital media and to attend free workshops, book discussions, author events and performances. The center offers structured and unstructed activities. Teens use digital equipment to help them build skills and create artifacts and build a solid set of digital and social skills. Young people geek out, play games, socialize and attend programs on how to create and edit videos, design and create 3D objects, photography, graphic design, game design and more. “YouLab at Lunch,” YouLab Pistoia – (How to use tablets for older people)
