New Approach to Advertising: Business-Centric Check-ins

The document proposes a new model called QRpon for advertising in social networks. QRpon allows businesses to create customized check-ins on their mobile websites to drive posts on users' Facebook walls in exchange for benefits. Unlike traditional check-in services, QRpon gives businesses control over the check-in content and rules for generating badges. It also does not require downloading an app and works across mobile devices using HTML5. The model extends Facebook check-ins and could provide an alternative to location-based check-in services like Foursquare.
