2. Typography
The target audience of my product believed that the fonts used in my magazine were relevant to the genre. This is due
to the fact that they rated the fonts used as 4 or if not 5 out of 5. Thissuggeststhat the font styles used in the
production of my magazine were highly appealing to them meaning that theymust be conventional to the genre of Hip-
Hop/RnB/Rap.
3. Image
Upon asking the target audience which they believed to
be the most appealing element within my magazine, the
majority of them agreed that the images were the most
engaging and appealing. Most of my target audience (all
apart from one) said that they found my images
conventional to the genre due to clothing/facial
expressions presented and therefore rated them 4 or 5
out of 5. This means that my images highly appealed to
the target audience of mainly males and females of 16-18
year olds.
4. Colour
The bulk of the target audience of my magazine
said that the colour scheme and housestyle
was really relevant to the genre of Hip-Hop/RnB
because I used colours such as red, blue,
black, white, gold and grey which are
conventional to this genre of magazine. Also,
one person mentioned the good choice of the
colour red which is a conventional colour used
in most Hip-Hop/RnB magazines due to the
connotation of danger in which it portrays.
5. Layout
The vast majority of the target audience believed that the layout of the pages within my magazine were conventional
to its genre. However, 1 person out of the 8 said that some pages were not conventional to the genre as they did not
meet the usual layout of an RnB magazine. However, my magazine included elements of image, typography, colour
and language in order to portray a conventional page layout of a Hip-Hop/RnB magazine in order for it to be relevant
to its genre.
6. Content
A considerable amount of the target audience believed that the features on the cover and inside of the magazine I
produced highly appealed to them (the target audience). In a couple of the comments it was said that the articles as well
as the images are highly appealing to them which therefore draw the audience into reading/buying the magazine due to
the content inside.
7. Strengths
Mainly the target audience suggested that the
images and colours used within the magazine
were it’s strongest part. This was due to the
fact that they are appealing to the audience
through being conventional to the genre. Along
with this, fonts and features etc were also
mentioned (once or twice) as strengths of the
magazine. However, the overall engaging
element were the colours and images used
within the production of my magazine because
they represented conventional elements of the
Hip-Hop/RnB genre.
8. Weaknesses
Most of the target audience believed
that there were no improvements to
be made. However, the couple
suggested were quite precise and
relevant to my product. One person
mentioned that the layout of the
double page spread looks cluttered
which was due to the fact I had
text/headlines going across the image
at the top of the right page. Along with
this, two others suggested that the
clarity of text at points was not clear.
This was because I over-lapped the
text slightly along with mainly using
serif font which has decorative lines
and therefore may cause difficulty for
the audience to read. Apart from this,
the target audience didn’t suggest
any further weaknesses.
