1. How does your media product represent particular social groups? By ClarahFiltness
2. Gender Representation I think in my magazine I break the stereotype of having a male DJ on the front cover, by using a female artist which is uncommon in the genre of Drum ‘n’ Bass/Dubstep. Males are mentioned in the interview with DJ Haze where she says “First impressions are always negative because it’s a male orientated genre.” Male artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Skream, Chase and Status, Zane Lowe, Magnetic Man, Plan B, MC Rage, Lil Wayne, Vocodr, Widowmaker, Prodigy, Rusko, Caspa, Pendulum, Cee lo Green and TinieTempah are mentioned as well. There are more of a variety of male artists mentioned but I focused on the females more like DJ Haze, Delilah and Jessie J. Although there is a female on the front cover and on the double page spread I have still catered for men in the style of the magazine with the colours, font, layout and the use of restricted language.
3. Sexuality Representation Sexuality in my magazine is not mentioned that often. Anything mentioned with relationships is on the double page spread where it states that DJ Haze dated Will Kennard from Chase and Status also when she talks about how she wrote her debut song “Doubting You” with Dizzee Rascal as they got the inspiration from previous relationships. “dating Will Kennard from Chase and Status…” “I think the idea was based from me and Dizzee’s previous relationships..”
4. Younger/Older Representation The younger generation is Drum ‘n’ Bass/Dubstep audience so I haven’t mentioned the older generation at all as I don’t see them being interested in the genre, let alone the magazine. The younger generation is represented in the clothing and pose of the model on the front cover, which is not what the older generation would wear. Also the use of restricted language that the older generation use, as they speak elaborated.
5. Race Race is represented through artists as TinieTempah, Dizzee Rascal, Lil Wayne, Cee Lo Green, John Legend, Benga from Magentic Man are a different ethinicity.
6. Nationality Representation Nationality is represented as DJ Haze in the fact section on my double page spread mentions that she is quarter Cypriot and a lot of artists I have mentioned are from America and the UK. I have also mentioned Ibiza Rocks which is in Spain, so it has mentioned countries other than the United Kingdom.
