5. Geography• The Olympic mountains (a part of the
Rockies) are located in the NW part of the
state. The highest peak is Mount Olympus.
• The Cascade range the Rockies contains
Mount Rainer. It is actually a volcano and is
the highest peak in the state.
• The region east of the cascade is called the
Columbia plateau. Cities such as Spokane,
Walla Walla and Yakima are located on the
Plateau. The Yakima, Columbia and Spokane
rivers flow through the area.
•The Strait of Juan de Fuca leads from the
pacific ocean into Puget Sound. Three of the
states major cities (Seattle, Tacoma, and the
capital, Olympia) are near the Sound.
•The longest river in Washington is the
Columbia River, it empties into the Pacific
Ocean.
•The Snake River, Lewis River, Spokane River,
Klickitat River and Cowlitz River are just some
of the rivers that flow into the Columbia River.
•The largest natural lake in Washington is Lake
Chelan, just one of more than a thousand
rivers.

• Farming is an important part of
Washington’s economy.
• Washington is the first when it
comes to many farm products,
such as pears, cherries,
raspberries, lentils and hops.
• Washington is home to many of
the major companies, like
Boeing, Costco, Starbucks,
Nordstrom and Amazon.com.

• Bill Gates, co-
founder of Microsoft,
was born in Seattle,
WA.
• Chief Seattle was an
American Indian
Leader of the
Duwamish and
Suquamish tribes in
Puget Sound.
• Hilary Swank is an actress and
she grew up in Bellingham,
WA.
8. Olympic National
Park
•This park is located in Port
Angeles, WA and has forests,
lakes, glaciers and amazing
views of the Pacific coastline.
•Here you can hike, camp, fish,
hunt, bike, and just relax.
•Most people visit here during
the summer.
•Entrance fees are $5 per
person or $15 per vehicle.
9. Museum of Flight
•The museum if located in Seattle,
WA. And has more than fifty aircrafts
on display.
•This is home to the first presidential
jet and an Apollo space command
module.
•The best time to visit this museum is
in the spring and summer. The cost is
between $10 and $18 per person.
10. Seattle Seahawks
•The Seahawks are one of the NFL’s
elite teams and they play in Seattle,
WA.
•Many people believe they play with
a 12th man on the field because their
fans make their home field hard to
play in.
•Each ticket cost on average $67 per
game.
•The Seahawks play from September
through January.
11. Conclusion
• Washington is a great
state because it is the
only state named after a
president.
• I chose this state because
it is my last name.
• I have learned about the
Columbia River, the
Museum of Flight, and
that some of the most
famous people, like Bill
Gates, was born or lived
in Washington.
