Assignment 2: Cross-media study – Film Promotion
                         Controlled Assessment Part 1
Investigate two ways in which a film is promoted

Primary Concepts that must be addressed: Institutions and Representations
Secondary Concepts that could be addressed: Media Language and Audience

Task 1 (Analysis and Response – AO2)

You will be assessed on your capability to produce a convincing and effective
analysis of the media texts, and your ability to refer to representation, institutions,
use media language, and discuss audience as key concepts. In addition work must
be clearly structured and arguments supported by evidence.

Deconstruct the Avatar film trailer and poster, you need to consider:

The relevant codes and conventions for trailers and posters
How the film or genre is represented (images used, sound, narrative themes)
       Use of colour, lighting, etc
Camera angles and distance – how these influence representation
Sound where relevant and what it represents
Editing where relevant or selection and cropping of an image and how this
       influences representation
How mise-en-scene contributes to the representation
The industry behind the production (director/production company)
