Purpose of the BCT Project
The purpose of the BCT Project is to
encourage, facilitate and support
collaboration among students, teachers
and educational leaders to enhance
learning across the community
Each year, we have reviewed the above
purpose of the project and we still see it
as appropriate and relevant

Major Objectives of the BCT Project
The major objectives of the BCT Project are to:
 facilitate the integration of ICT into teaching
practices to enhance student learning,
 encourage collaboration among students and
teachers to facilitate learning,
 encourage teachers to reflect on their practices
and share expertise with others, and
 facilitate the development of a community of
practice network across Quebec

As the illustration
shows, student and
teacher learning are
at the heart of the
BCT Project and
there are three key
aspects to it:
 collaboration,
 the wise use of
ICT,
 and an ongoing
community of practice

BCT Lessons Learned
on Student Learning
 Students enjoy sharing their work with
authentic audiences
 They are taking increased ownership for
their learning
 They are learning how to collaborate more
effectively
 They are beginning to understand the
importance of digital etiquette and are
trying to use ICT appropriately

BCT Lessons Learned
on Teacher Learning
Experienced BCT teachers:
 emphasize that it takes time to become
competent in the new ICT literacy
 encourage new teachers to reach out for
support from colleagues
 emphasize pedagogy comes first and then
the ICT tools to support it
 take baby steps and progress at your own rate

BCT Lessons Learned
on Support
The following are crucial sources of support:
 the Cycle Team Leaders in each Cycle Network
 the principal and administrators in providing
the resources, time and technical support
 the local Recit and ICT staff for both technical
and pedagogical support
 collegial support from other BCT teachers on
pedagogical, technical and collaborative aspects

BCT Lessons Learned on
Time
 there is a danger of “overloading” teachers,
their primary focus must be on the learning and
development of their students
 there needs to be a flexible time window for
making contributions to the project
 involvement in the project should blend work and
learning - it should not be an add-on
 teachers need time to meet, plan and share
within the school day
