  2. 2. Where were we? <ul><li>IT teachers locked into once a week, skill building classes in the computer rooms. Scheduling constraints in the computer rooms. </li></ul><ul><li>Teachers left on their own to plan & implement one integrated ‘computer lesson’ period a week. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>They have little support/PD </li></ul></ul><ul><li>A growing disparity between student ability level. </li></ul><ul><li>Old model of teaching software skills in isolation is not sufficient to meet the 21 st century learning needs of students </li></ul>

This year with TI Facilitators - TIF <ul><li>Who are the Facilitators? </li></ul><ul><li>Who are TIF Supporters </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Supporting information and digital literacy, helping with PD opportunities. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Librarians & SS IT Teachers – Sam, Andreas, </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Computer room scheduling more flexible </li></ul><ul><li>Technology use in the classroom can be supported – laptops, whiteboards, projectors, cameras, internet, blogs, wikis etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Lessons focused on curricular objectives </li></ul><ul><li>Planning, implementation, and assessment become collaborative – Admin, coordinators, teachers & TIFs </li></ul><ul><li>Teachers receive support & much needed PD </li></ul><ul><li>Best practice world model </li></ul>
  5. 5. Simply Stated… <ul><li>TIF’s assist/train teachers with integrating technology tools into their curriculum with the ultimate goal of improving student learning </li></ul>

Technology Integration <ul><li>Starts with student learning, with pedagogy - All STUDENTS get more authentic curriculum integration opportunities. </li></ul><ul><li>Focus is on the curriculum not the tools. Lessons begin and end with curriculum objectives and the hoped for enduring understandings. </li></ul><ul><li>Facilitate the curricular integration of technology tools into all areas of the school curriculum. Teaches in the classroom, computer room, outside; anywhere, anytime with teachers </li></ul><ul><li>Create learning resources with and for teachers, staff, and students. </li></ul>

More Tech Integration… <ul><li>Complete the necessary technological groundwork required so that teachers can focus on meeting curricular goals not on using the technology </li></ul><ul><li>Facilitates development, implementation, and updating of the QA E-learning plan </li></ul><ul><li>Track and ensure QA Technology Standards are met by students. </li></ul>

Professional Development <ul><li>Collaboration and integration roles serve as a form of PD for staff </li></ul><ul><li>Recommend and participate in outlining structures for the professional development and technology education of teachers </li></ul><ul><li>Spends time researching, finding resources, upgrading skills/knowledge and makes necessary contacts with other schools or technology people </li></ul>

Community engagement <ul><li>Facilitates school participation in special activities </li></ul><ul><li>Involved in organizing and conducting parent information sessions and training </li></ul><ul><li>Help supervise and implement the student tech crew </li></ul><ul><li>Attends meetings and staff development </li></ul><ul><li>Consult and make recommendations for the technology capital budget </li></ul>
