I presented the topic \'Supply Chain Management in 21st Century\' during a technical paper presentation event organized by Mechanical Engineers Students Association (MESA). This ppt covers all the material included in my presentation
3. Background The origins of the technique we now know as supply chain management are thought to lie in the shipyards of Japan and were first used in the early 1950s. The technique was later used in the car manufacturing industry and in particular was pioneered, again in Japan, by Toyota. It is true to say that there are many people throughout the world who believe that it is the peculiarities and uniqueness of Japanese culture that permitted not only the wide spread adoption of SCM in Japanese manufacturing but also restricts its application and transfer to other countries and other cultures outside of Japan.
