3. Using increasingly more social networks have
positive effects but also negative on users.
Social networks are a convenient and easy way to
communicate with people known or unknown.
Their use not only stimulates the ability to
communicate, but can boost the ability to seek, to
learn, to know.
Unfortunately, those who are captive virtual
universe, not always managed to connect with
real interlocutors, and especially those in the
lower age category, no longer grow as they should
direct communication skills, and sometimes they
take lapidary style communication used on these
sites.
4. In conclusion, accessing social networks is up to
everyone, even reality shows that they have
become a "nectar" and not only among young
people, given that polls now show increasingly
more users of these networks.
5. Facebook and Twitter are the most
popular social networks used every
day by millions of people. Excess is
harmful, warning that those
addicted to online communication
can become some misfits in real
life. But social networking can have
benefits also, as being in touch with
friends and partners, finding useful
information quickly, sometimes
saving time and money.
6. The aim of this research is to examine the
effects of social media on individuals and
families.
7. RS1 : Descriptive question - What effects can
have social networking in daily life, especially family
relationships?
RS2 : Difference question - Friendly relations,
communication, friendship, are better at individuals
often use social networks, compared to individuals
who do not use social networks so often?
RS3 : Relationship question - If the use of social
networking often improves mental ability,
thinking, then it automatically improves
communication style?
8. H1 : Social Networking replaced the intimate
interactions between family’s members. Family
conversations have been replaced by texting
sessions and family activity time has given way to
countless hours of internet surfing.
H2 : Social Networking continuing to change the
way people communicate. Using social networking
to improve communication skills, not to replace the
time spent with friends and family, help individuals
to have better relationships in real life.
9. O1 : To find out whether the use of social
networking affects the quality and quantity
of time spent by family members together.
O2 : To find out if a balanced use of social
networking helps individuals to improve
their communications skills in real life.
10. According to a study on media influence done by the
Kaiser Family Foundation, 8-18-year-olds spend over
seven hours a day using entertainment media. That's
over 50 hours per week! And when they're involved with
screen time they're not exercising, meeting with friends,
talking with family or negotiating in-person
relationships. Many are gaining weight easily distracted
and finding it hard to read the subtle signs in developing
and maintaining relationships. In fact, they're often
mentally absent when sitting with a group of friends or
family.
11. According to G.S. O’Keeffe and K. Clarke-Pearson,
authors of Clinical Report “The Impact of Social
Media on Children, Adolescents and Families”
issued in 2011, using of Social Media Web sites is
among the most common activity of today’s
children and adolescents. Any web site which allows
social interaction is considered a social media site.
The report highlights both the advantages and
disadvantages of the use of social networking for
individuals and their relationship.
12. Another study “Online Social Networking’s
Effect on Adolescent Social Development”
conducted by Mary Wilks concluded that
online social networking may have more
positive than negative influence on
adolescents.
13. The research will be conducted on young teens
between 12 and 18 years and their parents. They
will be provided with questionnaires, their
answers being measured by a Likert Scale.
Respondents will be asked to rate their answer
on a scale from 1 to 5: Strongly disagree,
Disagree, Neither agree nor disagree, Agree,
Strongly agree.
After collecting the data a qualitative analysis
will be done.
14. Participants and their parents have to sign a
consent form.Therefore they will be
informed about the purpose of the research
and methods used.
The information provided by participants will
be used only for the purpose of research.
Participants and their parents will answer in
anonymity, their privacy and intimacy will be
respected.
