2. What is GATE
• GATE (Graduate aptitude test in Engineering)
is an all India competitive exam for securing
admission to Master's program in Engineering,
in various engineering colleges and the
premier Institutes in the country including
IIT’s, IISc. The score of GATE is also helpful
during interviews and Public sector unit job’s
screening.

3. Some Recent Changes Made in GATE
• The GATE for 2014 is being organized by IIT
Kharagpur, this year.
• Female candidate exempted from paying
application fee.
• Papers of 15 subjects will be conducted
online. The photograph and fingerprint and
signature must also be uploaded online.
• New formula adapted to calculate scores. And
few more changes.

• Preparing for GATE needs time and strategic
planning along with implementation but even
before that, first, introspect yourself of what
you are weak in and what you are strong at.
• It is always advised to first finish up the part
that interests you or sections you are strong
in. This helps to build confidence and assures
you increase in score.

• The Second step is to take up the sections you are
weak at. The focus must be on clearing basic to
advance concepts first followed by practicing the
