The power of declaring God’s word over our job
situation
When faced with the challenges of finding work, it’s good to know that when
we speak God’s word over our lives, then He fights our battles.
Jeremiah 1:12 …for I watch over my word to perform it.
Our job is to speak God's word over our job situation - step out in faith - and watch
situations turn around.
The seven sections below hold God's promises regarding key areas for
your career development and calling:
• Guiding hand of God - You will need God’s guiding hand to find work.
• Revelation - You will need revelation to find work. Rely on God’s, not your own!
• Desires of your heart - Don’t settle for any old job, God’s advice to is follow your
desires.
• God’s Plans for your future - To find the right work, you will need to embrace God’s
plans for your future.
• Strength - God’s not your own! You will need strength to find work. Rely on God’s,
not your own!
• Growth as a Christian - To move into our next job, God sometimes wants us to first
grow as Christians.
• Hunger for God - In your search for work, God wants you to develop a hunger for
Him and His things in your life.
The Guiding hand of God - You will need God’s guiding hand to find work.
Deuteronomy 8: 2-5 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert
these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart,
whether or not you would keep His commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger
and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach
you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of

2. the Lord. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.
Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines
you.
Deut 2: 1-2 For a long time we made our way around the hill country of Seir. Then the
Lord said to me; “You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn
north”
Psalm 25: 4-5 Show me your ways O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth
and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and my hope is in your all day long.
John 10: 26 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Proverbs 16:9 ….a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.
Psalm 119: 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path
Proverbs 3: 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Listen for God’s voice…He’s the one who will keep you on track (The Message)

3. Revelation - You will need revelation to find work. Rely on God’s, not your own!
Deut 29: 29 The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong
to us and to our children for ever…
Matt 13: 9 –13 He (Jesus) replied, “The knowledge of the secrets of the Kingdom of
Heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and he
will have an abundance.
Eph 1: 17 –18 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Glorious Father,
may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray
also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to
which He has called you….
Rev 1: 1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show His servants what
must soon take place.
John 15: 14 –15 You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you
servants because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called
you friends for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
Isaiah 30: 21 Your ears will hear a voice behind you saying “This is the way; walk in it”
Habakkuk 2:3 For the revelation awaits an appointed time; It speaks of the end and will
not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
Desires of your heart - Don’t settle for any old job, God’s advice to is follow
your desires.
Psalm 63: 4 -5 I will praise you as long as I live, in your name lift up my hands All my
longings fulfilled as with the richest of foods..
Psalm 63: 5 All my desires satisfied as with the richest of food.
Psalm 37: 4 Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Matt: 25: 23 ..I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s
happiness!
Psalm 103: 5 Who satisfies your desires with good things.

4. God’s Plans for your future - To find the right work, you will need to
embrace God’s plans for your future.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good
works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Psalm 139: 3 You discern my going out and my lying down. You are familiar with all my
ways, Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely O Lord!
Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this that He who began a good work in you will carry it
on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Romans 8: 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love
Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
Isaiah 43:19 – 20 This is what the Lord says –he who made a way through the sea, a
path through the mighty waters, who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and
reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out
like a wick:
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing! Now it
springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the
wasteland
1 Cor 2: 9-10 No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has
prepared for those who love Him – but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit.
Jeremiah 1: 5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, Before you were born I set
you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations
Psalm 139: 16 All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them
came to be.
Jeremiah 29: 11 – 14 “For I know the plans that I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans
to prospers you and not to harm you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to
give you a hope and a future.”
“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek
me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you” declares the
Lord.
Psalm 138: 8 The Lord will fulfil His purpose for me.

5. Strength – God’s not your own! - You will need strength to find work.
Rely on God’s, not your own!
Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man who takes refuge in
Him.
Matt 11: 28-29 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you
rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me….
Psalm 51: 10–12 Create in me a pure heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within
me… Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.
2 Cor 12: 9 My (God’s) power is made perfect in weakness.
Psalm 63: 6 – 8 On my bed when I think of you I muse on you in the watches of the
night, For you have always been my help. In the shadow of your wings I rejoice My heart
clings to you, your right hand supports me.
Isaiah 40: 12 – 14 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, or with the
breadth of His hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a
basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and hills in a balance? Who has
understood the mind of the Lord, or instructed Him as His counsellor? Whom did the Lord
consult of enlighten Him, and who taught Him the right way?
Numbers 6:22 The Lord said to Moses. “Tell Aaron and his sons. This is how you are to
bless the Israelites. Say to them: “The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his
face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord turn his face towards you and give
you peace. So they will put my name on the Israelites and I will bless them.”

6. Growth as a Christian - To move into our next job, God sometimes wants us
to first grow as Christians.
Phil 3: 15 All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some
point you think differently that too God will make clear to you.
Hebrews 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however,
it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
James 1:12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood
the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.
1 Peter 1: 6-7 These trials have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold,
which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in
praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Job 23: 10 But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth
as gold!
Psalm 131:2 But I have stilled and quietened my soul, like a weaned child with its
mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

7. Hunger for God - In your search for work, God wants you to develop a hunger for
Him and His things in your life.
Psalm 123: 1- 2 I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in Heaven. As the eyes
of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her
mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy.
Psalm 84: 1- 4,10 How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns,
even faints for the courts of the Lord, my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God….
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper
in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
Psalm 24: 5-6 He (you) will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God his
(your) Saviour. Such is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek your face, O God
of Jacob.
Jeremiah 29: 13-14 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with your whole
heart. I will be found by you declares the Lord.
Psalm 34: 4-5 I sought the Lord, and He answered me. He delivered me from all my
fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
Psalm 73: 25-26 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire
besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, and my
portion forever.
Psalm 27: 8 My heart says of you “Seek His face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Psalm 63: 1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my
body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
