Ideas community for these who don’t know is the feedback portal on the PBS. Highly recommendBrand new window-enable you to snap frames to the gridSetup guideline to align multiple frames- Leads to a better user experience and more aesthetically pleasing layout
New Browser window was introduced in MI Pro v11New buttons have been added analyse data within the same window (no new windows required!)My favorite feature is the filtering option…you right click on the column you wish to sort by…next slide
You will be present with a dialogue box with options in plain English (e.g.. Greater than, begins with, contains etc). You don’t need to be a SQL guru! ….next slide
Once you have filtered you results, you can easily select all from the top left corner and then use in some way, like adding to the map or saving the results into a new table.
At end ….. what does this all mean?
A user could be in MI Pro editing a layer, say the roads layerThey can call the MI Manager catalogue that stores the metadataThen they can update the latest details, such as edit date this puts the control back to the data custodian or power user who should be responsible for maintain the metadata for their layers.
Click twicePreviously when you use the mouse wheel to zoom in it would only zoom in on the map centre. There is now an option to use the cursor location.
For the SQL gurus out there who love using the SQL select in MI Pro.….There is now an option add the results directly to the map
2 new tools added to MapCAD….
Last slide. There is a lot of hidden shortcuts that you mat not know, e.g.like CTRL G – finds selection in current map windowThe help menu now lists them all .
Now to ‘what’s new’in Exponare… which is the corporate GIS for many of our customers, particularly in local governement
At end……now lets look at these features in more detail…..
Here’s the new ribbon tool bar that enables to group similar tools into different tabs…e.g. this is the home tab with all the common tools.
The menu items were previously along the top. Now can access via a simple drop down on the top left.
Users can customise their own buttons in the ‘quick access’ toolbar
Easily navigate between the main tab such as the legend, queries, print etc
With the new interface and toolbar, there’s a new icons pack.
Assuming you have a CWS catalogue as all good GIS administrators should have! - You can now call Mi Manager and search the catalogue to find your layer.- This layer can then be open directly in Exponare. This is fantastic if you are a user who may not know what work context a layer lives in or if it even exists
Exponare Public has had an overhaul with a fresh new look..

This is directed at the mid level GIS user (unlike Tonkin Smart that is for the entry level). If for those people who need to view the same data on the run on a device like an Ipad. They can turn layers on/off, run the same queries and view the same data bind results.A very neat addition to Exponare
