1. Hyde Park Trip<br />Reminders: <br />The trip to Hyde Park is Wednesday, May 18th!<br />The bus will LEAVE at 7am!!! Be at school by 6:45 – meet in Mrs. Peterson’s classroom prior to getting on the bus!!! We need to check you in!!!<br />Everyone must wear jeans for this trip. We will be hiking in the woods (following the dirt path that FDR traveled on to go between Val-Kill and Top Cottage). You should also bring insect spray with you (to ward off the ticks and other little buggers in the woods!!!)<br />Wear sneakers!!! No open-toed sandals or shoes. <br />If it rains, bring an umbrella/rain jacket. We will still participate in all the outdoor events!<br />You need to bring snacks and a lunch with drinks for the trip!<br />(No Red Bull or high energy drinks!!!)<br />If you have an iPod, please bring it. One portion of the trip involves an audio podcast tour. To prepare in advance for this, please download the “Hike Through History” to your personal audio device. Go to www.nps.gov/hofr. Open up the “Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site” web page. Click on “Photos and Multimedia”. Download the “TOUR: Top Cottage”. Book mark it on your device. Plug in your earphones and press play to test it out!!! <br />Bring a cell-phone if you have one to call your parents on the way home (to pick you up!!!)<br />You may bring a camera to take pictures of our experience!<br />We are stopping for dinner on the way home, be sure to bring money!<br />Also, there are two gift shops on this trip – one at the main estate, “Springwood” and one at “Val-Kill”.
