2. Narrative Based Music Video
• Narrative based music videos usually tell a story that
relates to the lyrics of the song and genre of the song.
This technique engages the audience.
• Narrative can be a whole story with a beginning middle
and end, like you would see in a film.
• Or it can be various clips of a story. This can be clips of
a film if the song is the soundtrack for example Bruno
Mars ‘It Will Rain’.

3. Performance Based Music Video
• Many music videos include clips of the artist
performing. They can be performing to the
camera or an audience.
• This is popular for rock musicians as the concerts
are high energy and there is focus on them
playing their music.

Concept Based Music Video
• Concept based music videos tend to have no storyline, they
are generally a random concept and sometimes tends to not
tie in with the band or theme of the song at all.
• They are usually unusual and obscure, even surreal for the
audience. This unusual content is an attraction to many
consumers, which draws them in.
• Concept videos are usually combined with one of the other
two styles as the market demands for greater accessibly
rather than the somewhat niche that is pure concept art.
