National Intellectual's and Professionals' Organization was founded on 26th of February 2011 with following objectives, as mentioned in the Constitution.
1. To function as an independent intellectual organization gathering Sri Lankan intellectuals and professionals.
2. To contribute for the sustainable development of Sri Lanka by providing guidance, ideologies, advices, hypothesis and evidence.
3. To contribute for the establishment of democracy and good governance in Sri Lanka.
4. To collaborate with domestic and international intellectuals and institutions to uplift knowledge and understanding of Sri Lankan professional community.
NIPO consist of professionals and intellectuals of variety of disciplines including medical, university academics, engineering, law, media, geology, scientific research, policy development, administration, education, agriculture, fisheries, veterinary, social science, economy etc etc.
