5. Connecting to the LAN Network
• Obtain a copy of the ‘Move-In Guide for Residential
Students’ from the OIR Information Tables.
• There will be an Ethernet port on the side or back of
your computer. Insert one end of the Ethernet cord into
the Orange Network (Data) Jack; insert the other end of
the Ethernet cord into the Ethernet port on your
computer.
• On many computers, a light will appear on the Ethernet
port once your computer is connected and turned on.
• Start-up your computer and open either Internet
Explorer or Safari (Firefox will not work with our
Campus Manager Registration system.)
• Follow the screen prompts to successfully download
the security agent onto your computer’s desktop, and
successfully register your computer to again access to
our network.
7. Obtaining Technical Assistance
• Review ResCon coverage schedule and
sign-up for a ResCon to visit your room to
assist you with the issue(s.)
• Contact the Technology Help Desk for
assistance.
• Please do not call in an issue for another
user, as help desk staff will need to speak
with user directly to obtain information and
perform troubleshooting steps over the
phone.

Information tables will be setup in the lobbies of Ronson, Scholler, Madison, and the back porch of Ravenhill Mansion.These tables will include copies of OIR’s ‘Move-In Guide for Residential Students,’ ResCon appointment sign-up sheets, Help Desk magnets and pens, ResCon availability schedules for Move-In, Help Desk Office hours, and other pertinent student computing information.The Help Desk Office will be open, for limited hours, during the weekend of move-in.Resident Consultants will be available and on-duty; sign-up sheets and coverage schedules will be posted at the OIR information tables.

If you are attempting to connect to the “wired” network in the residence halls, please make sure to disable your “wireless” network card (often represented as a switch on the front or side of the laptop.)
Students will be asked to authenticate themselves using their Philadelphia University username and password (same as e-mail/webadvisor username and password.)
