We also help buyers in both the private and public sectors to have a greater environmental awareness by  making important information readily available, resulting in more environmentally-driven purchases .
PositionGreen was the winning contribution in Greendigger 2009 “ Procurement of environmentally profiled products can be a strong vehicle for sustainable development.  Position Green is a company that we think are able to provide the tool necessary for making such procurement a standard procedure. With entrepreneural skills and experience, Postion Green goes out for this challenge with large confidence”   Overall assessment, CINNS   PositionGreen is a member of Cleantech Inn Sweden  – the Swedish national team in cleantech
Background  The EU has voted for the climate package and it will require a huge investment for private and public companies to be able to live up to those commitments by 2020. The EU Commission's objective is that all Member States must meet the requirement that Green Public Procurement (GPP) must represent 50% of the total value in 2010. Demand for environmentally sustainable solutions will increase dramatically.   Problems  We believe that there is currently lacking an effective communication channel that provides an overall view of what products and services that are available in the market and simplifies the study and purchase process for buyers so that they can meet the targets set. Companies that sell environmentally friendly products and services are also without a good channel that simply and effectively promotes their products and expertise to the market.  Product  PositionGreen is a search engine that contains products and services that have an eco-label or contribute strongly to a better environment. Buyers who focus on more eco-friendly shopping will have an effective tool and guide. Suppliers will receive a competence increasing information channel and a tool that gives them exposure against an important target group. By cooperating with authorities, municipalities, businesses and organizations, PositionGreen will offer a complete and quality assured data base of all eco-labelled products on the Swedish market.  Target Group We have conducted a variety of market surveys to get an overview of who will get the most benefit from a service such as PositionGreen. We see the users as being mainly purchasers from both the public and private sectors. We are also seeing an interest from other groups that are in any way involved in the company's or organization's environmental efforts.
As a purchaser you can query the database directly but you can also register for access to a range of clever features.
You can search both by keyword and by category. The more information we get about the product, the better the search results. The database mainly includes eco-labelled products. There are currently around 12.000 searchable products.   What would you search for first?
To get more information about the products that come up in search results, the visitor clicks on Read More. It is possible to save selected products in folders that the user sets up as needed. What information is most important for you to see in order to make a decision to purchase or obtain a market basis?
Create a sound basis before a purchase and share the information.   1. Access to your own page 2. Search results in folders 3. Product info saved in respective folders 4. Add own comments 5. Export selected information to Excel
The suppliers that have products shown on PositionGreen can easily log in and add or remove information.
Suppliers can see which products are included and may add important information such as purchase contacts, references, etc. However, some of the fields are locked, e.g. the supplier can not manually add an eco-label.
As a visitor and a member you also gain access to news, relevant information, available jobs and the opportunity to join e-courses directly or find information about other courses and events that are present in the area.
A forum where suppliers and buyers can discuss issues and opportunities with each other.   Features under development Ability for registered users to upload, manage and share files. The project is supported by the  Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth , VINNOVA and the companies OMMH Scandinavia and OPIC Group. The service is expected be launched in September 2010. In the period before launch, the focus will be on updating the existing product database. The suppliers behind the products will be able to supplement their existing information free of charge in order to create the most useful service possible.
