3.  NASA recently announced the current position of its Dawn
spacecraft, which launched in 2007 on a mission to
observe and photograph the two largest bodies in the
asteroid belt: Ceres and Vesta. According to NASA mission
controllers, the spacecraft is entering the mission’s next
phase, the Ceres approach phase. Currently, the team
estimates the spacecraft to be 400,000 miles away from
the dwarf planet and marks its speed at approximately
450 miles per hour.
In its previous phase, mission controllers had limited
communication with the Dawn craft due to its positioning
in solar conjunction. During this time, the spacecraft was
located on the opposite side of the sun, making
transmissions between Earth and Dawn difficult.

4.  Once Dawn reaches Ceres, it will become the
first spacecraft to ever orbit two separate
targets within the solar system. Before making
its way to Ceres, Dawn visited the protoplanet
Vesta from 2011 to 2012.
Mission control calculations indicate the Dawn
spacecraft will enter Ceres' orbit in March 2015
and will arrive on the dwarf planet on March 6.
Principal investigator for the mission Christopher
Russell hopes the mission will unlock many of
Ceres’ secrets, as astronomists currently know
very little about.
