  4. 4. What is a Personal-Professional Twitter Account? A personal-professional twitter (PPT) account is an account that is created for business purposes that utilizes the advantages of personal account characteristics. PPT accounts have an advantage over traditional brand or business accounts because they allow users to connect with a person rather than corporation.  Branded accounts want users to connect with the brand.  PPT accounts want users to engage with a person representing the brand.
  5. 5. What are your PPT goals?  We established that PPT accounts are created to engage users with someone representing a brand but your goals need to go a step further.  You need to answer WHO, WHAT, WHY and WHERE  Who are you trying to target?  What action do you want that target audience to take on Twitter? After that?  Why is it important that users engage with PPT account?  Where is your target audience?
  6. 6. Example Goals:  Who  What  Where  Why 1. Small Law Firms Visit Blog and fill out contact form Miami, FL Develop trust among Miami lawyer community 2. Medium to Large Business Owners Visit website and call us Chicago, IL Increase brand awareness among local business owners
  7. 7. Go one step further What are you hoping to achieve on Twitter? Who are you trying to reach?  Your twitter goals should consist of 3 parts:  a metric    a targeted audience a deadline. Example goals:   I want to receive 10 retweets from Chicago news publications by October I want to generate 30 website visits from Chicago twitter users by September. 8. 8. What makes up a Twitter Account  @Username • Address that people use to communicate with you on twitter @username • Becomes a part of your twitter profile URL • Ex. https://twitter.com/username   Email Address Password
  9. 9. What makes up a Twitter Profile Name (First and Last) What appears in Twitter Feed Location Appears in profile under Bio Bio Shows as blurb beside your username in search results Also appears under your name and username on profile page Website Appears in profile under Bio Name Username
  10. 10. Incorporating Your Goals into Twitter  1. 2. Who Small Law Firms Medium to Large Business Owners  What Visit Blog and fill out contact form Visit website and call us  Where  Miami, FL Develop trust among Miami lawyer community Chicago, IL Why Increase brand awareness among local business owners
  11. 11. Twitter Optimization Tips  Name > Handle?  On twitter, your twitter name is more important than your twitter handle because your name is shown when people read your tweets in any feed or search result. (Your handle is shown but it’s faded in grey.)  Outside of twitter, you will promote your twitter handle as a way for people to communicate with you and interact with you on Twitter. There are no two twitter handles a like. Your twitter handle is exclusive to you.  Both names are very important and should be similar, if not, identical for clear branding.
  12. 12. Twitter Optimization Tips  Description   This is your Twitter elevator pitch. Why should people follow you? You get 160 characters to sell yourself.  "Coffee expert. Twitterholic. Internet advocate. Music aficionado. Wannabe entrepreneur."  Include keywords and #hashtags for SEO   Avoid clichés Tools such as Followerwonk can search Twitter bios on a keyword basis. (mashable.com) Include what you can offer  What are you going to tweet about? What insight can you offer?  This might read as a totally believable Twitter bio, but it is in fact gobbledygook: madeup, buzzword nonsense from the "Twitter Bio Generator". (mashable.com) Show your personality  Just because your PPT account services a professional purpose, it doesn't mean you can’t be your charming, witty, funny self : ) (Remember this rule for tweeting)
  13. 13. More Twips  Add your company website to your profile  Tweets can be up to 140 characteristics  http://hashtagify.me is a free website that ranks #hashtags by popularity and interest
