Third Rock Ventures Third Rock Ventures Presentation Transcript

  • Thank you Third Rock Ventures!
  • You all have been great supporters for us, helping us sort food!
  • You already know our work…
    • 30,000,000 pounds of food
    • 600 hunger-relief agencies in Eastern Mass
    • Over 83,000 people per week
    • Over 10,000 volunteers every year
  • Today
    • 1 in 9 Massachusetts residents has visited a food pantry, soup kitchen or homeless shelter.
    • Increase in need at least 11%. Some agencies are reporting 45-50% increases in need.
    • Unemployment and Beacon Hill budget crunch are lagging indicators of any recovery.
    • We don’t see any lessening in emergency food assistance for at least a year.
    • We will probably be OK in acquiring all the food we need:
    • USDA
    • Commonwealth’s assistance
    • Food donations
    • Questions so far?
  • Third Rock Ventures
    • You recognize strong organizations with potential
    • You’ve invested your efforts in The Food Bank
    • The Greater Boston Food Bank has an outstanding ROI
    • You know how to seize opportunity
  • Our biggest challenge
    • To finish the campaign that allowed us to both build the new facility and invest in the future
  • Our Fighting Hunger Feeding Hope Campaign
    • By the numbers:
    • $35 million goal
    • $26 million in gifts and pledges
    • We have a path to $7 million of the remaining $9 million
    • We need to raise an additional $2 million by the end of next year
