Complainant must have reasonable grounds to
believe conduct violated code

8. Filing Complaint
Depends on who the complaint is against
P Complaint against PO goes to Chief
P Complaint against APA Instructor to Director
P Complaint against Chief to OPC
P Complaint against APA Director to OPC
P Complaint against UPEI SPO to OPC
9. Complaints against Police Officers and
APA Instructors
First go to Chief of Department or APA Director
P The complainant or the officer have 30 days to
request OPC to review decision of Chief or Director
P OPC investigates, determines if essential
requirements are met, tries to resolve informally, if
unsuccessful, dismisses or refers to PC
P PC conducts public hearing,dismisses or imposes
discipline

or UPEI Security Police Officers
Complaint goes directly to OPC
P OPC Investigator investigates, determines if
essential requirements are met, tries for
informal resolution, if unsuccessful, dismisses
