  1. 1. The African Elephant is the largest livingland animal. It is larger than the AsianElephant. These mammals have very strongsocial bonds and live in family groups headedby a female called a cow. The males calledbulls. Elephants are excellent swimmers.Elephants have few natural enemies exceptman, and they are in danger of extinction dueto loss of habitat and poaching. They arekilled for their ivory tusks.
