Definition of Multiples
• A multiple is the result of multiplying two
numbers.
• Example: 21 is the multiple of 7 and 3;
since 3x7=21
This is the multiple
Example: List the multiples of 2:
• 2 x 1 = 2
• 2 x 2 = 4
• 2 x 3 = 6
• 2 x 4 = 8
• 2 x 5 = 10
• 2 x 6 = 12
Counting Numbers
So, the multiples of 2
are 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14,
etc………….
Example: List the multiples of 5:
• 5 x 1 = 5
• 5 x 2 = 10
• 5 x 3 = 15
• 5 x 4 = 20
• 5 x 5 = 25
• 5 x 6 = 30
Counting Numbers
So, the multiples of 5
are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30,
35, etc…….
What about the multiples of 4?
• 4 x 1 = 4
• 4 x 2 = 8
• 4 x 3 = 12
• 4 x 4 = 16
• 4 x 5 = 20
• 4 x 6 = 24
Counting Numbers
So, the multiples of 4
are 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24,
28, etc.
What are the first five multiples of 13?
13 x 1 =13
13 x 2 = 26
13 x 3 = 39
13 x 4 = 52
13 x 5 = 65
13, 26, 39, 52, 65
