1. TRADITIONS IN OCTOBER
In the United States 12th October is
Columbus Day.
Christopher Columbus discovered the New World on
12th October, 1492.
31st October is Halloween. At Halloween children
dress as:
Wizards
Witches
Ghosts
In parts of Britain and in America,
children go from house to house in their
neighborhood and people give them sweets
and food. This tradition is called “Trick
or Treat”!
2. RECIPE: BAKED POTATOES
In Britain it is traditional to eat baked potatoes at Halloween and on
Bonfire night (5th November). They are easy to make.
You need:
6 large potatoes
300g cheese
150g butter
A little cooking oil
A little salt
Procedure:
1-Wash the potatoes but don't peel
them
2- Put a little oil on the potatoes
3. 3- Put a little salt on the potatoes
4- Cook them in the oven for 1 1/2 hours at
175 ºC
5- Cut the potatoes and put a little butter
and cheese in the middle.
6- Eat them hot.
You can also put small pieces of ham, tomato, chicken, sausage, pepper,
etc. in the baked potatoes
