2. The Mothers Club of PHC is a nonprofit group that volunteers its time to raise funds for the Birthing Center at Putnam Hospital Center. The club began in December 2007 and is working on creating free community service programs for families. The club provides a positive, stimulating environment to experiences, build relationships and contribute to our development as individuals, parent and caregivers in and around our community.

4. The PHC Birthing Center is a state-of-the-art obstetrics unit which opened in 1999and is the most comprehensive birthing facility in the area. It offers mothers andtheir babies the latest advances in birthing techniques, comforts and care. The PHCBirthing Center provides attentive, highly skilled staff that includes board certifiedobstetricians/gynecologists, neonatologists, and certified nurse midwives.

6. The Mother’s Club is a branch of the PHC Auxiliary which has a 40-plus year legacyof raising awareness and funds for PHC. The hospital has been able to meet the needs of the community, thanks in large part to the efforts of the PHC Auxiliary!

8. 2009 Event List! Snuggle Program (Ongoing – Community Outreach) Senator Vincent Leibellsecured a grant which enables thePHC Mother’s Club to provide every baby born at PHC with aHalo Sleep Sack. These sleep sacks are recommended by theAcademy of Pediatrics to reduce the incidence of SIDS(Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). This program began in 2008 and will continue into 2009.
10. Dress Down Day: February 29, 2008 This fun all day event was held in the connector at the PHC. There were raffles, bake & home interior sales, and snacks for visitors & employees. PHC employees donated to dress down that day or purchase a Hawaiian lei to wear for the day. The club raised $1,000. Baby Tag Sale: May 10, 2008 This outdoor tag sale event was held at the Eagle Eye 2 in Mahopac, NY. Donations of baby items from the community were sold to new mom’s at a reduced cost. The tag sale raised $500. Dessert Moon Restaurant Fundraiser: March 19, 2008 Dessert Moon Restaurant, Danbury, CT donated 15% of their sales to the PHC Mother’s Club. $86 was raised.
11. Summer Social: July 26, 2008 PHC Mother’s Club held it’s First Annual Summer Social at Centennial Golf Club to initiate fundraising efforts for the PHC Birthing Center. The funds raised at the social were $4,000.
12. Home Interiors Party: June 2008 A Mother’s Club member hosted a Home Interior Party and donated the proceeds to the Mother’s Club. The party proceeds were $120. Four Brother’s Restaurant Fundraiser: September-December, 2008 Four Brother’s Restaurant, Mahopac, NY donates 15% of their sales when presented with the PHC Mother’s Club Flyer. $120 was raised to date.
13. Teddy Bear PJ Party: October 3, 2008 The PHC Mother’s Club holds a community outreach program at the PHC. Invitations to the community via the media for an evening of story time, face painting, coloring, and milk and cookies. Approximately 150 children (accompanied by their parents) attended. Donations received at this event totaled $700

15. Heritage Books: Ongoing Heritage Books, Carmel, NY donates $5/book sold on their website to the PHC Mother’s Club. $20 has been donated to the club. Mother’s Club Toy Drive Funds that are being raised through programs delivered by the Mother’s Club will enable every pediatric patient at the hospital and their waiting siblings a toy to make their wait a little less stressful.
16. Birthing Center Waiting Room Improvements: Ongoing A children’s wall puzzle, a large screen television with child-safe cabinet will be provided thanks to the funds that have been raised during 2008. Four Brother’s Restaurant Anniversary/Holiday Celebration The PHC Mother’s Club will celebrate their 1st Anniversary on Thursday, December 4th at 5:00 p.m. at the Four Brother’s Restaurant, 654 Route 6, Mahopac, NY 10541.
