Servant Leadership
    Robert Greenleaf, who coined the term
 Servant Leadership, says that the leader
 should start by imagining himself as a
 servant first, rather than thinking of
 himself as a leader and conceiving of
 service only afterwards.
Characteristics of a Servant Leader
 James Autry lists down six characteristics of servant
 leadership:
       First, he says: Leadership is not about controlling
 people; it is about caring for people and being a useful
 resource for people.
       Second: Leadership is not about being boss; it is
 about being present for people and building a
 community at work.
       Third: Leadership is not about holding on to
 territory; it is about letting go of ego, bringing your
 spirit to work, being your best and most authentic
 self.
Fourth: Leadership is less concerned with pep
talks and more concerned with creating a place in
which people can do good work, can find meaning in
their work, and can bring their spirits to work.
     Fifth: Leadership, like life, is largely a matter of
paying attention.
     Lastly: Leadership requires love.

 10. Be alert to give service.

       Let us remind ourselves that the call for EVOLUTION
 is a call for CHANGE in ourselves in the way we educate
 and lead the young and the generation next to us. It is call
 to make the learning go beyond the exercise of imparting
 and acquiring knowledge.
       It is a call to form the young with a character for life. It
 is a call to develop them into leaders who think critically,
 initiate change, and stand up for their convictions.
       Leadership for service. Learn it. Live it. Let it
 grow among ourselves. And, when our turn comes to
 become a leader, our country may yet find that HOPE we all
 seek!
