3. White background
• All contents pages of a magazine have a white
background, so that it is clear. It is also so that the
text and images stand out a lot more.
4. Layout in columns
• All contents pages are laid out in columns.
Commonly, 3 or 4 columns or alternatively the ‘dog
leg’ layout (Letter L).
5. Main image
• There is always a main images as well as other
small ones to take up space on the page.
6. Page numbers followed by content
• All contents page have page numbers followed by the content on that page so that
it is easy to find certain things on certain pages quicker.
• The text usually gives an outline of the story. It is often two words that are in bold
or in capitals.
7. Website
• There is always a website and contact details on the
contents page. For example, customer service details
and an email. They do this to promote the magazine.
8. Category heading (regulars in every
issue)
• A category headings are usually 14 pts and
usually in bold, black or in a colour.
9. Features
• The contents page will outline the features in the
magazine. ‘Features’ are articles that only feature in
that issue only.
10. Images
• On the contents page there are plenty of pictures that take up
the majority of the page. The pictures are all numbered so
that it anchors them to the page and story.
11. Colour scheme
• There is usually a consistent colour scheme on
the contents page and the colours are usually
quite simple colours.
12. Others

• The font size is a maximum of 11pt.
