The document discusses the biblical characteristics of the church of Christ based on passages from the New Testament. It covers:
1. The church can only be identified by its characteristics as revealed in the NT.
2. The importance of studying the church, as the initial departure from Christianity came from leaders of the church.
3. The general structure of the church is found in passages like Ephesians and Philippians. There is only one body.
4. The church strives to follow Christ's perfect pattern, though people are imperfect.
It then discusses the head of the church being Christ, the authority being the written word of God, apostles being witnesses, prophets, evangelists,
The Significance of Being A Christian - Living By FaithRick Peterson
Living By Faith is the third in a series of lessons on, "The Significance of Being A Christian." I found the outlines for this series of lessons at: http://executableoutlines.com/sig.htm
The document discusses key elements of Christian living according to the author's experience and understanding. It identifies faith, love, forgiveness, and being a living example as critical components. The author describes their personal journey of finding conviction through studying Jesus' teachings and increasing communion with Him. Specific Bible passages are referenced to emphasize the importance of each element in living as a Christian.
The document discusses what it means to truly know God. It argues that merely claiming to know God is not enough; one must demonstrate knowledge of God through obedience to his commands. True knowledge of God does not come through human wisdom but through faith in Jesus Christ. To know God is to love God and others, as God first loved us. The ultimate purpose of knowing God is to gain eternal life through a relationship with both God the Father and Jesus Christ his son. The document encourages the reader to evaluate whether they truly know God and Jesus or if it is merely an intellectual belief.

The document discusses why someone should be part of a church community rather than just going to church services. It provides definitions of what constitutes a church and gives both biblical and practical reasons for being part of one. The key reasons are that God commands it in the Bible, churches provide community and opportunities for encouragement and spiritual growth, and Jesus loves and sacrificed for the church.
Faith is encouraging because it:

This is the fifth and final sermon in the series "Growing Deep Growing Strong" In this sermon we consider the growing hunger for an experience of "fullness" in a frenetic culture that drains us. This sermon explores the promise of pantheism to deliver this "fullness", how pantheism falls short, and how the God of the Bible delivers true "fullness" through Christ.
This document provides an overview of Ephesians 6:10-20 and discusses the importance of prayer and spiritual warfare. Some key points:
1) Ephesians 6 instructs believers to put on the full armor of God in order to stand against the schemes of the devil. Prayer is emphasized as a vital part of this armor.
2) God devised the system of prayer to train the Church, as the Bride of Christ, to overcome evil forces and acquire the character needed to rule with Christ eternally.
3) Prayer is how the Church learns spiritual warfare and gains maturity. God will not override the Church's responsibility for prayer and enforcing His will, as this is how He prepares her for rulership
This document provides summaries of several Bible passages about the five-fold ministry of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. It discusses their purpose of perfecting saints, doing the work of ministry, and building up the body of Christ. It also defines the roles of each position, with apostles being missionaries who set things in order, and prophets being people who receive the word of God and foresee future events. The overall message is about the importance of these ministries in preaching the gospel and bringing people to unity in faith.
This document provides an outline and summary of Ephesians 4:11-16 from a sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. It discusses how Christ gives spiritual gifts to believers for equipping the saints and building up the church until unity of faith and knowledge of God is achieved. It emphasizes that believers should no longer be children tossed about by false doctrines but should speak truth in love to grow up in Christ as the head of the body. The conclusion exhorts maintaining unity through humility, unity with Christ, and looking to others' interests above one's own.
This document provides commentary on Ephesians 6:10-20 about spiritual warfare. It discusses:
1) How believers are to put on the full armor of God to stand against the devil's schemes, including challenging God's word and twisting scripture.
2) How believers wrestle not against flesh and blood but spiritual forces, and how each piece of armor represents an aspect of faith.
3) How the church must learn to overcome through prayer in order to rule with Christ eternally and be prepared as his bride.
The document is a summary of a sermon discussing the difference between imputed and imparted righteousness. It explains that imputed righteousness refers to God crediting believers with Christ's righteousness based on faith alone at salvation. Imparted righteousness refers to the righteous nature implanted within believers by the Holy Spirit that transforms them from within through sanctification. Both are necessary - one is declared, the other is developed through cooperation with the Spirit.
The document discusses six categories of God's subjects:
1. The Elect Bride, also known as the Wise Virgins, who were chosen before the foundation of the world and will be with Christ in His throne of judgment.
2. The Foolish Virgins whose names are also in the Book of Life and will come up in the second resurrection, including those who die for their faith but were not born again.
3. Borderline Believers like those in Israel coming out of Egypt whose names may be blotted out of the Book of Life for failing to obey God.
4. The Reprobates whose names were never written in the Book of Life and were ordained for
Acts 19, Receiving the Holy Spirit, baptism of the Holy Spirit, becoming hard...Valley Bible Fellowship
Paul arrives in Ephesus and finds some disciples who had not received the Holy Spirit. He baptizes them in Jesus' name and lays hands on them so they receive the Holy Spirit. Some Jews try to invoke Jesus' name in exorcisms but are rebuked by demons. Paul teaches in the school of Tyrannus for two years and many miracles are performed through him. When some become hardened against the gospel, Paul withdraws and reasons daily. Demetrius stirs up a riot against Paul in the theater, accusing him of threatening the cult of Artemis.
The document is a summary of John 1:19-36 from a church service. It discusses John the Baptist denying he is the Messiah or Elijah when questioned by priests and Levites. John says he is the voice preparing the way for the Lord, as prophesied by Isaiah. The next day, John sees Jesus and declares him to be the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. John baptizes with water to make Jesus manifest to Israel, while Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit.

2013 Book of Mormon: Chapter 13 (Institute Lesson by hgellor)Leah Gellor
The document outlines three key doctrines and principles from the Book of Mormon:
1. In the last days, many people will be deceived by false doctrines.
2. The Book of Mormon joins the Bible in bearing witness that the Lord is God.
3. Obedience, repentance, and faith in Jesus Christ qualify us to become the Lord's covenant people.
This document discusses the importance of authority in religious teachings and obedience. It summarizes Jesus' confrontation with religious authorities who questioned his authority, noting he received authority from God. The document argues that religious teachings must have authority from God, not just human leaders, and believers should obey God over human commands. It provides biblical examples of teachings from God that believers must follow regarding morality, sexuality, and using their bodies for righteousness.
To be baptized in the Holy Spirit is a wonderful, rewarding, powerful experience. The Holy Spirit gives us supernatural gifts to make us more effective in spreading the Gospel. Be very careful that you don't quench the Spirit.
The document discusses the three realms of the supernatural: faith, anointing, and glory. It states that faith is the first realm and portal to the supernatural. Faith is in the person of Jesus Christ and it is the beginning of entry into the supernatural realm. The document explores many Bible passages that discuss faith and how it is necessary to please God and receive his promises. It establishes that the realm of faith centers around believing in Jesus Christ.
The document outlines a sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi on Ephesians 3:14-21, discussing how Paul prays that believers would be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, have Christ dwell in their hearts through faith, comprehend God's vast love, and be filled with God's fullness. It also provides references, an outline of Ephesians, background on the passage, and explanations of key verses before closing with encouragement to know God's salvation through faith in Christ.

This document provides an introduction to understanding the Bible. It discusses that while the Bible can be complex, God intends for it to be understood. It then covers several topics: why people interpret the Bible differently due to lack of knowledge, preconceived ideas, deception, or sin; principles for interpretation such as defining words, considering context and parallel passages; and an overview of the composition of the Old and New Testaments. The goal is to provide information to better understand and interpret the Bible.
The document is a session from the SpeakStrong method which teaches listening with both ears, finding the good within negative emotions, and feeding the good wolf. It shares an allegory of two wolves - a good wolf and a bad wolf - that live within each person. The lesson is that by listening with compassion and understanding what emotions try to teach us, we can find the power, tenderness, aliveness and wisdom within ourselves and feed the good wolf.

It also mentions honoring God with finances by giving the first portion, putting God's thoughts first in decisions, and loving God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength so he has first place there. The overall message is to make God's priorities your priorities and ensure he is first in your day, week, money, decisions and heart.
The document discusses the New Testament model for the church based on examples from Acts to Jude. It covers topics like how the early church was organized and functioned, what happened during church gatherings, and how Christians lived out their faith. The goal is to learn from the Apostolic model and apply those teachings today.
The document discusses principles for Christians regarding their collection and giving. It outlines that Christians should set aside part of their finances every week to support the church and those in need. Christians should give willingly according to their means and show the proof of their love through generous giving. God loves cheerful, liberal givers who give purposefully without reluctance.

The document discusses the roles of God and humans in making disciples. It emphasizes that Jesus commands believers to make disciples by going, baptizing, and teaching others to obey all of Jesus' commands. While it is God who opens people's eyes, believers must also play an active role by witnessing through both words and deeds, imitating Christ and proclaiming the gospel message. The roles of God and believers are interconnected, with God giving the growth while believers plant and water through their efforts.

Peter explains to other believers that God had shown him a vision telling him it was acceptable to preach to Gentiles. He recounts visiting Cornelius, a Gentile, where the Holy Spirit fell upon those listening before they were baptized. When questioned about this later, Peter recounts the vision and emphasizes that God had given the Gentiles the Holy Spirit, showing God had accepted them. The other believers then accept that God had granted repentance and salvation to Gentiles as well.
The Powerpoint outlines for this series of lessons on The Great Commission were downloaded from the Duluth, GA Church of Christ website at: http://www.churchofchristduluthga.org/sermons.php
The document discusses the kingdom of God and living according to God's will. It emphasizes that through faith in Jesus' death and resurrection, believers are no longer separated from God but are fellow citizens in God's kingdom. The early church is presented as a model community, as the believers devoted themselves to fellowship, prayer, and sharing their possessions to help those in need. They met daily and praised God together, and the Lord added to their numbers as they witnessed about Jesus throughout Jerusalem and the surrounding regions.
1) The document discusses what it takes to be a good Christian soldier based on passages from the Bible. It says Christians must be tough, fight to the finish, follow Jesus's example of sacrifice, and forsake their own ambitions.
2) It outlines five characteristics of a good soldier: being tough and free to fight, fighting to the finish, following Jesus's example, proclaiming total allegiance to God, and forsaking personal ambitions.
3) It encourages readers to fully surrender and commit themselves to God to begin fighting for Him as good soldiers.
The document is a sermon about how Christians cannot go about their faith alone and must influence others. It provides several Bible passages supporting this. Specifically:
1) Christians are called to be salt and light in the world and to let their good works shine before others to bring them to God.
2) Believers' faith and example will influence others to also believe, as was the case for the Thessalonians and early Christians.
3) Individual Christians are part of the larger church body, and the church grows as more people come to faith daily. Christians are to support and encourage one another in their faith.
This document discusses Jesus' command to his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations by baptizing them and teaching them to obey all that Jesus commanded. It notes that despite humanity's fall into sin, God's mission remained to spread his glory throughout the earth. Jesus gave his followers the same command to multiply and spread his teachings. The document emphasizes that Christians now have a role to obey Jesus' Great Commission by preaching the gospel and spreading the message of reconciliation through Christ to redeem the fallen world. It encourages embracing this call and living as testimonies by praying for opportunities to share God's love.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

1. Basic Principles of Christianity
Lesson 4
DYNAMIC CHRISTIAN LIVING
The Christian Life
2. The Christian Life
The Christian life is one of being a disciple, following
Christ’s example so as to conform to his image.
Romans 8:28-30
“And we know that to them that love God all things
work together for good, even to them that are called
according to his purpose. For whom he foreknew, he
also foreordained to be conformed to the image of
his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many
brethren: and whom he foreordained, them he also
called: and whom he called, them he also justified:
and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”
3. The Christian life is not one of perfection,
but of progress and growth.
II Peter 3:18
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory
both now and for ever. Amen.”
4. The following principles can help one in
their daily living as they seek to live for
Jesus Christ.
5. God must be the priority in a
Christian’s Life
– Matthew 6:33
– Matthew 16:24-26
– Matthew 19:29
6. Matthew 6:33
“But seek ye first his kingdom, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you. Be not therefore anxious for
the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious
for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil
thereof.”
7. Matthew 16:24-26
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any
man would come after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever would save his life shall lose
it: and whosoever shall lose his life for my
sake shall find it. For what shall a man be
profited, if he shall gain the whole world,
and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give
in exchange for his life?”
8. Matthew 19:29
“And every one that hath left houses, or
brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or
children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall
receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit
eternal life.”
9. Christians Must Increase Their Faith
– Romans 10:17
– II Timothy 2:15
– II Timothy 3:16-17
– II Peter 1:5-11
10. Romans 10:17
“So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by
the word of Christ. 18But I say, Did they not
hear? Yea, verily, Their sound went out into
all the earth, And their words unto the ends
of the world”
11. II Timothy 2:15
“Give diligence to present thyself approved
unto God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, handling aright the word of truth.”
12. II Timothy 3:16-17
“Every scripture inspired of God is also
profitable for teaching, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction, which is in
righteousness. That the man of God may be
complete, furnished completely unto every
good work.”
13. II Peter 1:5-1
“Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence,
in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge; and
in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control
patience; and in your patience godliness; and in your
godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness
love. For if these things are yours and abound, they make you
to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord
Jesus Christ. For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing
only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old
sins. Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make
your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye
shall never stumble: for thus shall be richly supplied unto you
the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.”
14. The Christian Life Involves Worship
Daily – Romans 12:1-2
“I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies
of God, to present your
bodies a living sacrifice,
holy, acceptable to God,
which is your spiritual
service. And be not
fashioned according to
this world: but be ye
transformed by the
renewing of your mind,
and ye may prove what is
the good and acceptable
and perfect will of God.”
Colossians 3:16-17
“Let the word of Christ
dwell in you richly; in all
wisdom teaching and
admonishing one another
with psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs, singing
with grace in your hearts
unto God. And whatsoever
ye do, in word or in deed,
do all in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks
to God the Father through
him.”
15. Weekly – Hebrews 10:24-25
– Assemble on the first day of the week
• Acts 20:7
– Partake of the Lord’s Supper
• I Corinthians 11:23-26
– Giving
• I Corinthians 16:1-2
– Pray
• I Corinthians 14:15
– Singing
• Ephesians 5:19
• Colossians 3:16
16. Assemble on the first day of
the week.
Acts 20:7 7And upon the first day of
the week, when we were
gathered together to break
bread, Paul discoursed with
them, intending to depart
on the morrow; and
prolonged his speech until
midnight.
17. Partake of the Lord’s
Supper.
I Corinthians 1:23-26
23For I received of the Lord that
which also I delivered unto you,
that the Lord Jesus in the night in
which he was betrayed took bread;
24and when he had given thanks,
he brake it, and said, This is my
body, which is for you: this do in
remembrance of me. 25In like
manner also the cup, after supper,
saying, This cup is the new
covenant in my blood: this do, as
often as ye drink it, in
remembrance of me. 26For as often
as ye eat this bread, and drink the
cup, ye proclaim the Lord's death
till he come.
18. Giving.
I Corinthians 16:1-2 Now concerning the
collection for the saints,
as I gave order to the
churches of Galatia, so
also do ye. 2Upon the
first day of the week let
each one of you lay by
him in store, as he may
prosper, that no
collections be made
when I come.
19. Pray.
I Corinthians 14:15 15What is it then? I
will pray with the
spirit, and I will pray
with the
understanding also: I
will sing with the
spirit, and I will sing
with the
understanding also.
20. Singing.
Ephesians 5:19 19speaking one to another in
psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing and
making melody with your
heart to the Lord;
16Let the word of Christ
dwell in you richly; in all
wisdom teaching and
admonishing one another
with psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing
with grace in your hearts
unto God.
Colossians 3:16
21. Christians Must Love One Another
– John 13:34-35
– I Peter 1:22
– I Corinthians 13:1-13
22. John 13:34-35
34A new commandment I give unto you, that
ye love one another; even as I have loved
you, that ye also love one another. 35By this
shall all men know that ye are my disciples,
if ye have love one to another.
23. I Peter 1:22
22Seeing ye have purified your souls in your
obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of
the brethren, love one another from the heart
fervently:
24. I Corinthians 13:1-3
If I speak with the tongues of men and of
angels, but have not love, I am become
sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. 2And
if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all
mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all
faith, so as to remove mountains, but have
not love, I am nothing. 3And if I bestow all
my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my
body to be burned, but have not love, it
profiteth me nothing….
26. Matthew 5:13-16
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost
its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is
thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and
trodden under foot of men. 14Ye are the light of the
world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. 15Neither
do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but
on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the
house. 16Even so let your light shine before men;
that they may see your good works, and glorify your
Father who is in heaven.
27. Galatians 5:16-26
16But I say, walk by the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust
of the flesh. 17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the
Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the
other; that ye may not do the things that ye would. 18But if ye
are led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19Now the
works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20idolatry, sorcery, enmities,
strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties,
21envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I
forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who
practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23meekness, self-control;
against such there is no law. 24And they that are of Christ
Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts
thereof. 25If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also
walk. 26Let us not become vainglorious, provoking one
another, envying one another.
29. Matthew 28:18-20
18And Jesus came to them and spake unto
them, saying, All authority hath been given
unto me in heaven and on earth. 19Go ye
therefore, and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them into the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:
20teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am
with you always, even unto the end of the
world.
30. I Peter 3:15
15but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord:
being ready always to give answer to every
man that asketh you a reason concerning the
hope that is in you, yet with meekness and
fear:
