Idea 1 Stalker/Abduction ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],We all thought about this idea looking into the different aspects that will effect our work being successful. As a group we feel that all there are both advantages and disadvantages to this idea. One of the advantages is that not a lot of characters are needed therefore it may look more realistic and will be easier transferring from one setting to another. However, a disadvantage may be that a kidnap idea is very popular and that we would be competing against a vast amount of real products. We know this as we have looked into a lot of trailer along the lines of our idea. After talking about this in detail, we have decided to carry on drafting with ideas as we do not feel that this will give us an opportunity to achieve the best final trailer possible. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],This film trailer would be based on the book names ‘Stolen’ which won a book award. The main theme of this film would have been an abduction of a teenage girl who would have been used for illegal purposes.
Idea 2 ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],The idea for this trailer would be creating a film based on a reality TV show. For example, I am a celebrity based in the woods. Each morning the group would realise something terrible has happened. An example of this would be a member of the group going missing. In the end, the group realises that one of the celebrities is causing this. As a group we all thought about this, looking deeply into what is involved and whether it will be a strong trailer. We researched into this more and realised that this will be very difficult to make it work. We like the idea, however we fill that it would be hard to make it realistic. Another disadvantage is the fact that only a small amount of settings are used therefore it may not be effective and interesting for the audience to watch. On the other hand, an advantage may be that there are similar films that have been successful such as ‘The Blair Witch Project’. However, this may also be seen as a disadvantage as it will be competing against a well known film. After a discussion as a group we decided that this may not be the best way to achieve success due to the reasons above.
We have decided that we will not be using any of the ideas on the pages before. The reason for this being that the ideas before were effective, however they would be very hard to make successful with the equipment and time we have available. We have had group discussions and have researched into another idea we have talked about. We have decided that this will be our final idea and feel that after a great deal of planning this we be made to a high level. On the upcoming pages as a group we are going to explain our idea and begin to plan our final product for our trailer. Final Decisions

Story Board We have discussed the plot of our film trailer therefore we are now ready to create a story board which will help us when we begin filming. We will sketch the shots adding the time and type of shot. I will do this on paper and scan it in which is shown below.
Equipment List Filming the trailer will need a vast amount of equipment. Below, we are going to state what equipment we need, explaining why and what we need it for. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],We will have to make sure the camera is available a lot as we will be filming a lot after we have finished planning. We will also need to make sure that it is always charged therefore we will not be wasting time waiting for it to do so. Before we begun planning we checked the Sony camera available and found that it is to a high quality. We are very lucky to be able to use the Apple Macs as there are several at the school available. The programmes we intend to use will be Photoshop and movie Iplayer. We have found out where these are available as we will need this a lot. The reason for this is that it transfers the filming we have done on the camera over to the Apple Mac.
Equipment List Continued ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],There will be several characters, however the main two character will have to wear certain costumes. As a group we will have to decide these and feel it is a huge contribution as part of the equipment. The digital camera will be used for several different things. Some which include taking pictures of the cast, settings and maybe adding some slow motion in our film. The tripod is needed for several of our planned shots. An example of this is when we film an establishing shot the camera will need to be very still. Another example will be when we create an shot from box hills view point. We will have to be aware when the tripod is available due to the fact that there is only one for the Video Camera, however Yasmin in our group owns a tripod for the digital camera.
Settings ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
Ideas for Title Name ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Below, are our ideas that we feel would be an ideal title for our film. When thinking about both advantages and disadvantages we immediately felt that ‘The Followers’ was most successful, which will attract the target audience that we are aiming for. When we first started planning we thought this would be a good idea for the main title. However, after completing our research we felt that this would not suit the genre of our film and attract the audience we would like to attract. As a group we have been looking at existing trailers within the same genre. We thought that this was a good title as it is stereotypical, however we felt that a weakness off this title was due to the fact that it didn’t explain anything to do with the film. This was our initial idea for a title, which we feel still have several advantages. As a title we like this idea as we feel it suits both the genre and storyline of our trailer. It gives our target audience an insight of what happens, however doesn’t tell them to much. Immediately after choosing this title, we realised that although it suits the film as some of it will be filmed in the woods, it is to simple and basic and wouldn’t attract a large audience.
Fonts for Title We have been looking at different fonts, trying to find the best suitable one for the genre of our film trailer. We then analysed these, talking about the advantages and disadvantages. As a group we have chosen to use ….. This font grabbed our attention immediately as it was perfect for what we wanted. In our opinion we believe that it has no disadvantages apart from colour which can be changed at a later date. Its main advantage is the fact it is stereotypical for the genre we are aiming at. We have decided that we will carry out our search due to the fact that the font may not tell part of the story like others may do. As a group, we picked this title together and talked about it in great depth. We felt that it was an effective title, however after looking into it further we believed that it wasn’t suitable for our genre, being more suitable for a medieval genre. T I T L E OF FILM After huge discussions we have decided to go with this san serif font due to the fact that it is both basic yet effective. We have looked at several existing trailers which have similar fonts to this therefore we feel this will be successful.
Colours Scheme for Title Black and Red: Firstly we analysed the colours black and red, we wanted to experiment with a variety of colours to see which worked well together. Black and red were well matched and suited the genre of our film. We have decided to have black, red and white would work well together, we have also decided that this will be used on the trailer, poster and magazine that we are creating. This is effective as it shows continuity within the magazine and reflects near professional standards. We feel that these colours are regularly used on trailer, this meaning that they are generally quite successful colours that work well with an audience. As a group, we like the idea of using these colours as we think that they stand out and are eye-catching for the audience. Black and Yellow: We feel that these colours would not help our trailer reach its potential; we strongly believe that these colours do not work well together as they don’t suit the title font or name. A final disadvantage with this colour scheme is the fact that they are commonly not associated with each other, which is not beneficial for our trailer, magazine or poster as we have decided to keep colours consistent throughout. I have looked at several different colour schemes in which I want my magazine to follow, each colour scheme has been taken from different magazines and I am comparing them to see which schemes are best suited for my magazine and the audience I want to attract.
Black and Blue: On our trailer title and background, we have tried the colour black and blue together however we didn’t feel they looked as good together as we had expected. We think that these colours are too dark for a our trailer, especially for a magazine and poster. Another disadvantages with these colours is that these are often related as negative colours that would not help promote/advertise my magazine. Black and Purple: Immediately after trying these colours for our trailer, we realised that these didn’t look professional and realistic. As they are both dark colours, we do not think that it would attract our target audience. A thriller trailer should be basic colours reflecting what the trailer is about , however we do not feel that these colours do this. All of the contrasting colours above will also be used with white therefore the our title will consist of 3 main colours. In conclusion, we have decided that black, red and white are going to be the three main colours. We feel that these colours reflect what the trailer is about.
Casting As a group, we thought about the actors in depth. We felt that these all fitted the theme of our film in some way therefore we had a group discussion talking about both the advantages and disadvantages of each character. Below each character’s image, we are going to write about whether or not we will use them and the reasons for this. We considered Jack advantageous to our trailer, however his timetable clashed with ours therefore he was unable to film when we had planned. Jake fitted the profile we had envisioned, however due to being a successful actor he had prior commitments that were more important to him progressing. One of the main advantages of Nathan was his image as we felt it fitted our image criteria. Whilst story boarding we realised that he will only be used for a quick shot however will be used effectively.
Casting continued We considered Lucy for one of the main parts in our film, however when we looked into this further we realised she did not fit the part as we envisioned. After deciding that Susan would help our film be successful she had prior commitments including her own media work. The reason we asked Frankie to participate when choosing our characters we felt that her dark features may useful as a victim, however not for the other role. This was unhelpful as we already had a drama student who fitted the victim role well.
