QUESTION 4
How did you use new media
technologies in the research, planning,
construction and evaluation stages?

2. RESEARCH
During the research stage of my project I looked in
to both the form of documentary and also the topical
research on university. To carry out this research I
used the search engine Google to help me find a
number of websites. For example, I used ucas.com
when it came to finding out a lot of information and
statistics about universities.
Another part of the research was analysing existing
products. For this I sourced my research from
YouTube which had a number of documentaries that
I could watch to gain some insight in to such things
as conventions.
I uploaded my findings to my blog on the its learning
site in several different forms. These forms included
PowerPoint through the use of SlideShare and
presentations created through prezi.com.

3. PLANNING
Throughout the planning phase of my product I
used a Canon DSLR camera for a number of
reasons. For example, I used the device to take
photographs for both location scouting and for
the animatic that me and my partner created.
I also used iMovie during the creation of the
animatic as I edited the pictures together and
added text through its editing software. This was
before I uploaded the video to YouTube along
with my partner through the export features
within the software. Demonstrating how useful
convergence is as I could upload the animatic to
YouTube without having to leave iMovie.
All of my planning was also uploaded to my blog
on the itslearning site.

4. CONSTRUCTION
The construction of our product (documentary) involved using
a number of the things that we had previously encountered in
the research and planning stages of creating our product.
To film the documentary we used a Canon DSLR camera and
then to complete our post production work we once again
used iMovie. My partner and I had previous experience with
this software from my AS Media course which enabled us to
create a good final product through the use of a number of
editing techniques. Once the film was finished we uploaded it
to YouTube and then to our blogs.
We also used freeplay.com and iTunes when it came to
finding the music that we wanted for our documentary and
recorded our voice over audio with a microphone.
In the construction of our film poster and magazine articles we
used Adobe Photoshop which enabled us to create the
products that well suited our needs. As with all of our other
work this was then uploaded on to my blog following
completion.

5. EVALUATION
For my first evaluation question I typed up my answer on
to my blog and added images and screen shots in order to
help explain my descriptions and information fully.
For the second evaluation question I have created a prezi
which is an interactive presentation that I have uploaded to
my blog.
To answer the third question I have created a series of
clips that show both audience feedback and also my
responses to the feedback given. I used the Canon DSLR
camera to film this and then used iMovie to edit the clips
before uploading the video to YouTube. The video then
went on to my blog as well.
For this question (number 4) I have created a PowerPoint
presentation which I will upload to SlideShare and then on
to my blog on itslearning.
