Potential Jargon:
Cues are what are used to introduce a feature, interview or vox pop, they are
written by a reporter or producer.
They are used to grab the attention of the listener.
LINE 1 – Grabs attention and gives the basics
LINE 2 – Gives more detail and reveals the story
LINE 3 (4) – Leads into the story

Signposting
Signposting is background noise, if someone is fighting, previously
recorded sounds would be used instead of the real noise.
Language Style
Presenters have to be able to be persuasive, excited and relaxed while on air to
keep listeners interested and so they can present different stories or news
updates etc. on Metro radio they like to use words that their audience would use
so the listeners can relate to them.
Continuity links are used to introduce a new show or re-introduce a show after a
break, e.g. coming up next...

Recognised Genres
The most recognised genre is the music genre. This is because it is the cheapest to
produce, stations such as Radio 1 and Capital Radio are known as music based
radio stations.
Other popular genres are documentary programmes, speech packages and live
feature material. Examples of these are stations such as Radio 2, TalkSport and
Radio 1.
