The document discusses how different social groups are portrayed in a media product. It notes that the magazine only represents one social group - white British male teenagers - who are portrayed as dangerous and carefree. A questionnaire found that most people saw the teenagers as rebellious and dangerous but also relatable as they were casually dressed and in a college setting. The magazine aims to portray its fictional band in a way that combines the dark image of bands like Slipknot with the normality and approachability of bands like Green Day.

Media question 2
1. 2: How does your media product portray different social groups?
My original images all use
the same three white British
male teenagers, those
means that in my magazine I
have only represented one
group and not a variety.
However, throughout my
magazine the teenagers are
conveyed as dangerous and
care free, this is also how I
believe teenagers are
perceived by different age
groups.
2. The results from my questionnaire found that a high percentage of people found the teenagers on my images to
be rebellious and dangerous, this may make them inspiring for the audience, although simultaneously they
are dressed in quite casual clothes and also the background of the images is a college, this will make them
relatable and seem as if they are not so different from the audience.
How are teenagers portrayed in my magazine?
Dangerous
Rebllious
Cool
3. I have used a slight variety of social groups
throughout my magazine, from bands such as
Green Day, who may be portrayed as indie
rock whereas other bands such as Slipknot
who are seen as dark, intimidating and
different. When creating the band I aimed to
put them in between these social groups, the
dark and intimidating side of Slipknot but still
having the normality and approachability of
Green Day.
