Happy NewYear to everyone as we welcome 2015! I feel very blessed and honored to have served as your Mayor for the past four terms. It is a privilege to work
with such a dedicated and hardworking Board of Trustees who work together on our common goals to ensure that Glendale Heights remains a thriving proud and
progressive community for all.
In 2014, we were met with much challenge and adversity as we were struck with one of the harshest winters on record. Our snow removal staff members spent many
hours away from their families and friends ensuring our community was clear and safe. I want to personally thank them for their hard work. We received letters and
calls saying what a great job our snow removal staff did with the challenging winter. I think we are all hoping that 2015 brings us a much warmer and shorter winter!
Our Police Department also achieved their reaccreditation on April 16, 2014 from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
Accreditation provides objective evidence by an outside agency of our police department’s commitment to excellence in leadership, resource management and
service delivery. In addition, on November 7, 2014, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), announced that for the second consecutive year, the
Village of Glendale Heights has received the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2014/2015 budget document. This award represents a
significant achievement since it reflects our commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
Despite the tough economic times we have faced over the past several years, the Village is committed to continue to provide efficient, quality services to our residents
and a prosperous environment for our businesses. We also continue to identify and apply for grant funding to meet our goals and objectives. Most recently, the Village
was awarded another grant from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to purchase a new bus for our Center for Senior Citizens, and we
were also awarded several Illinois Clean Energy grants to replace the exterior and interior lighting at public buildings and many of our parks.
Without the hard work of our staff, volunteers, committees and commissions, we would not be able to provide so many extraordinary services, programs and events
throughout the year. Together we are prepared to embrace new opportunities and meet the challenges that are ahead. I look forward to seeing you at our many
special events and programs planned. As always, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, comments or concerns. May this NewYear bring all of us
many memories, peaceful times, good health and happiness!
Sincerely,
Linda Jackson

“I feel very honored and proud to be able to serve
the residents of District 1 as your Village Trustee. I
have been a Village resident since 1973 and have seen significant changes occur.
Among them are that the population has increased, unincorporated land has
been annexed, business and manufacturing has expanded, streets and highways
have been widened and improved, and Village Government has become even
more responsive to the needs of our Village residents. I believe that the future of
the Village is dependent on the cooperation and communication between Village
residents, their Elected Officials and Village Staff. I am proud of my involvement
with the community and hope to be able to contribute significantly to its future.
I hope and pray that you and your family will be blessed with a happy, healthy,
prosperous and safe 2015!”

“To the residents of Glendale Heights, I want to say
thank you for allowing me to represent you as your
District 2 Trustee and Deputy Mayor. It has been my
honor, along with the Village Board, to have made
the decisions we have made in the best interest of our community. You allowed us
to improve the Civic Center Campus, the Sports Hub, Glendale Lakes Golf Club and
the Center for Senior Citizens. We are all lucky to have a caring Executive Staff and
employees who all work together to make the Village of Glendale Heights what it
is today. We have a Police Department that serves and protects us, and two Fire
Protection Districts who put the safety of its residents first. We are truly fortunate
to have an amazing and caring community. I want to remind you that if you have
any questions whatsoever, I am only a phone call away. I want to wish everyone a

The Benefits of Preschool
Most medical professionals, as well as educators, agree that the
ages three through five are crucial periods in a child’s education
and development. Enrolling your child in a preschool program will
help to lay the foundation for academics, social interaction skills,
as well as build self-confidence in a child. The Glendale Heights
Preschool held at the Sports Hub provides children with a positive
learning environment that is both safe and fun!
VillageMap-Legend
One of the primary goals of the Village of Glendale
Heights is to maintain a safe and secure Village.
To meet this goal, the Village has an Emergency
Management Plan, emergency responders who are
available at all times, and reciprocal agreements with
other agencies to provide additional services in the
event of an emergency.
One of the most important steps you and your family
can take in preparing for emergencies is to develop
a household disaster plan. Just like having a working
smoke detector in your home, having emergency
supply kits will put the tools you may need at your
fingertips.
PREPARING YOUR FAMILY
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
recommends that residents be prepared to make
it on their own for at least three days following a
disaster. During times of high alert, first responders
will be very busy putting out fires, aiding with floods,
getting people to safety or treating the injured.
Ready.gov and ready.illinois.gov are comprehensive
websites that provide step-by-step guides to disaster
preparedness by walking the reader through how to
get informed about local emergency plans, how to
identify hazards that affect their local area and how to
develop and maintain an emergency communications
plan and disaster supplies kit.
GLENDALE HEIGHTS
Prepare Your Family
for an Emergency
COMMUNICATION DURING AN EMERGENCY
Depending on the emergency, some of the communication systems may be temporarily unavailable. To address
this concern, the Village has developed multiple communication avenues. The following tools are available for
emergency communications:
WEBSITES
During a municipal emergency, residents are encouraged to get up-to-date information by visiting the Village
website at www.glendaleheights.org and DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management
at www.dupageco.org/protectdupage.
CODERED
The Village subscribes to an emergency telephone notification system to quickly contact residents and businesses in
the case of an emergency. Through the CodeRED system, the Village can send out automated telephone messages
quickly and efficiently in the event of an emergency. The brief message will provide
information on the emergency situation and any important instructions. To sign
up, go to the Village’s website and click on CodeRED System or contact the police
department non-emergency phone number at 630.260.6070.
GHTV
The municipal cable station (Channel 6 for Comcast & W.O.W, Channel 99 for AT&T) provides both video and text
information relating to the emergency and, when necessary, instructions on where to obtain further information.
WARNING SIRENS
Warning sirens are strategically placed throughout the community. The warning sirens are used to alert the Glendale
Heights residents of a tornado or severe storm warnings. The system is designed only to alert those residents
who are outdoors at the time. After the warning sirens sound, take cover immediately indoors and tune in to
local weather radio and television stations for the latest information. When indoors, personal weather radios are
recommended for warnings of severe weather.
RADIO & PUBLICATIONS
During an emergency, the Village keeps radio, broadcast and print media informed through press releases. The
releases are also available at www.glendaleheights.org.
SHELTER
The Village will announce the exact location of public
shelters that are open throughout the Village during
an emergency. During extended power outages, the
Village has a generator and plenty of space at the
Glendale Lakes Golf Club located at 1550 President
Street.

  • 3. Happy NewYear to everyone as we welcome 2015! I feel very blessed and honored to have served as your Mayor for the past four terms. It is a privilege to work with such a dedicated and hardworking Board of Trustees who work together on our common goals to ensure that Glendale Heights remains a thriving proud and progressive community for all. In 2014, we were met with much challenge and adversity as we were struck with one of the harshest winters on record. Our snow removal staff members spent many hours away from their families and friends ensuring our community was clear and safe. I want to personally thank them for their hard work. We received letters and calls saying what a great job our snow removal staff did with the challenging winter. I think we are all hoping that 2015 brings us a much warmer and shorter winter! Our Police Department also achieved their reaccreditation on April 16, 2014 from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Accreditation provides objective evidence by an outside agency of our police department’s commitment to excellence in leadership, resource management and service delivery. In addition, on November 7, 2014, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), announced that for the second consecutive year, the Village of Glendale Heights has received the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2014/2015 budget document. This award represents a significant achievement since it reflects our commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. Despite the tough economic times we have faced over the past several years, the Village is committed to continue to provide efficient, quality services to our residents and a prosperous environment for our businesses. We also continue to identify and apply for grant funding to meet our goals and objectives. Most recently, the Village was awarded another grant from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to purchase a new bus for our Center for Senior Citizens, and we were also awarded several Illinois Clean Energy grants to replace the exterior and interior lighting at public buildings and many of our parks. Without the hard work of our staff, volunteers, committees and commissions, we would not be able to provide so many extraordinary services, programs and events throughout the year. Together we are prepared to embrace new opportunities and meet the challenges that are ahead. I look forward to seeing you at our many special events and programs planned. As always, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, comments or concerns. May this NewYear bring all of us many memories, peaceful times, good health and happiness! • 34. One of the primary goals of the Village of Glendale Heights is to maintain a safe and secure Village. To meet this goal, the Village has an Emergency Management Plan, emergency responders who are available at all times, and reciprocal agreements with other agencies to provide additional services in the event of an emergency. One of the most important steps you and your family can take in preparing for emergencies is to develop a household disaster plan. Just like having a working smoke detector in your home, having emergency supply kits will put the tools you may need at your fingertips. PREPARING YOUR FAMILY The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recommends that residents be prepared to make it on their own for at least three days following a disaster. During times of high alert, first responders will be very busy putting out fires, aiding with floods, getting people to safety or treating the injured. Ready.gov and ready.illinois.gov are comprehensive websites that provide step-by-step guides to disaster preparedness by walking the reader through how to get informed about local emergency plans, how to identify hazards that affect their local area and how to develop and maintain an emergency communications plan and disaster supplies kit. GLENDALE HEIGHTS Prepare Your Family for an Emergency COMMUNICATION DURING AN EMERGENCY Depending on the emergency, some of the communication systems may be temporarily unavailable. To address this concern, the Village has developed multiple communication avenues. The following tools are available for emergency communications: WEBSITES During a municipal emergency, residents are encouraged to get up-to-date information by visiting the Village website at www.glendaleheights.org and DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management at www.dupageco.org/protectdupage. CODERED The Village subscribes to an emergency telephone notification system to quickly contact residents and businesses in the case of an emergency. Through the CodeRED system, the Village can send out automated telephone messages quickly and efficiently in the event of an emergency. The brief message will provide information on the emergency situation and any important instructions. To sign up, go to the Village’s website and click on CodeRED System or contact the police department non-emergency phone number at 630.260.6070. GHTV The municipal cable station (Channel 6 for Comcast & W.O.W, Channel 99 for AT&T) provides both video and text information relating to the emergency and, when necessary, instructions on where to obtain further information. WARNING SIRENS Warning sirens are strategically placed throughout the community. The warning sirens are used to alert the Glendale Heights residents of a tornado or severe storm warnings. The system is designed only to alert those residents who are outdoors at the time. After the warning sirens sound, take cover immediately indoors and tune in to local weather radio and television stations for the latest information. When indoors, personal weather radios are recommended for warnings of severe weather. RADIO & PUBLICATIONS During an emergency, the Village keeps radio, broadcast and print media informed through press releases. The releases are also available at www.glendaleheights.org. SHELTER The Village will announce the exact location of public shelters that are open throughout the Village during an emergency. During extended power outages, the Village has a generator and plenty of space at the Glendale Lakes Golf Club located at 1550 President Street.
