2. BEFORE
Since second part of XIX
century:
• Female ideal was as the
queen of the house.
• The maternity was remarked
as her most important
function.
• However, the needs of a
bourgeois society on the way
to modernization required that
women would assume
practical and effective tasks.
3. DURING
• With so many soldiers in
the war, industry needed
workers.
• Women were the solution.
• Women know how to fulfill
their role. The woman's
previous role had become
obsolete.
4. DURING
For replacing recruited men
some women:
• Worked in munitions
factories, in public
transport, in offices and in
security
• Served in the armed forces
in support functions, for
example, as nurses
• Even in Russia some were
soldiers.
5. DURING
• During the war, female labor
accounted for 40% of the
production on which much of
the weapons industry
depended.
6. AFTER
• The war had started a
change called suffragism.
• They pointed out that if
they were equal to work
and fight, they should be
the same to vote.
7. AFTER
Women vote:
• In Germany women got the
right after the war.
• In England in 1918, women
over 30 got the right to vote,
although it wasn't until 1928
that women over 21 could do
so.
