Marx's sociology focused on analyzing capitalist societies and class struggles within those societies. He believed that societies progressed through different modes of production and private ownership of property would eventually be replaced by common ownership as societies became more industrialized. Marx saw class conflict between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat as the driving force behind historical change that would lead to a communist revolution and a classless society.
