Jean-Claude Guédon has been involved in the Open Access movement since the early 1990s and was an original signatory of the Budapest Open Access Initiative in 2002 and BOAI10 in 2012. As a professor of comparative literature at the Université de Montréal, he has helped advance Open Access through participation on the program committee of the Open Society Foundations from 2002 to 2006 and with Electronic Information for Libraries from 2003 to 2007. Currently, he is a Trustee of the Nexa Centre at the Politecnico in Turin and regularly writes and lectures on Open Access matters.
