The document discusses the Suggestopedia method for teaching second language acquisition. Suggestopedia uses techniques like rhythmic breathing, music, and arranging chairs in a semicircle to help students relax and pay attention. The goal is for students to understand concepts rather than just memorize them. Studies show students learn English 3-5 times faster using Suggestopedia compared to conventional methods. The author recommends using Suggestopedia once they become a teacher, and believes teachers should find effective teaching methods and show enthusiasm to help students learn English as a second language.
1. Second unit was about approaches and techniques for SLA. I found
Suggestopedia an interesting way to use in classrooms, for it is tied to yoga, use of
rhythmic breathing and music which in my opinion is the most important feature. If
we use this approach we have to be aware that the main aim is that our students
do not memorize; instead, students have to understand and create solution of
problems. I noticed that teachers in the university use this method, for when they
teach us in the classroom they want the chairs are arranged in semicircle in order
to make us pay more attention and feel more relaxed. Students who learn with
conventional methods use only 5 to 10 percent of their mental brain; however, by
using Suggestopedia they learn English three to five times as quickly.
To conclude, after reading about Suggestopedia I recommend it . I would like to
use this method with my students once I am a teacher, so they could learn English
as a second language more effectively. I believe teachers should show confidence,
enthusiasm and the most important thing they have to change the way of teaching
English in schools. If we want to get best results, as teachers we have the
responsibility to find effective method to teach in the classrooms .
