I am a third year student studying in St. Dominic's College. One thing that I
have noticed is that us student have a lot of stress and when I asked my parents
and teachers about it they said that during their time they didn't have half the
stress. When we think of the origin of stress, we all start to think of exams and
project due dates. There is also all the friendship and relationship drama that we
teenagers tend to go through when we are in secondary school. Some of us out
there suffer depression, anxiety and all sorts of problems, but trust me, we're in
this together. Well there is nothing to do about them other than face them so
let's think about how to at least reduce the stress we go through while facing
these problems.
Mindfulness is one of the ways that will help you get through this. Mindfulness is
when you think about life and ways you can enjoy it. Mindfulness is something
that will give you time to find a bit of peace in your hectic lifestyle. There are
many forms of mindfulness some can include physical activities to help you
concentrate like yoga. Mindfulness is when you just think of everything in a
positive and try to understand a situation by looking at other people's
perspectives.
Another form is meditation, where you can just let out all thoughts in your
mind that causes anxiety, depression or even excitement and just imagine a
world full of peace according to you. For instance, you can imagine a jungle
where each and every creature has their own way of living manages to merge
together.
There is also at times where both of these things don't help you and you need
something that will relax and you make you more productive. That's where
sports and activities come in. Don't be afraid to go for walk when you feel
stressed after revising a chapter. A bit of fresh air is always good for you! You
know exercise is very important and can help your brain focus more on what
you are doing. Ever realized that you get your homework done more quickly
after doing P.E. at school?
Another very important thing is to eat healthily and that is very important. Try
and have a good healthy breakfast at the start of the day. Nothing can revive
you up other than a good breakfast full of nutrients in the morning. Do you feel
that you get in the morning when you breakfast then at least try to have a glass
of milk or a glass of orange juice? At the start of the day: Go slow on fizzy
drinks, chocolate bars and oily snacks and instead have some fruit that are full
of vitamins.
Doing all of this and still stressed, maybe you just need to chill! Don't work
yourself out too much and don't be scared to take a break watch a movie or
listen to your favourite band. Sometimes we students are stressed so much that
we forget that we have life outside books, copies and exams. Something that
helps me a lot when I am stressed is talking to someone, be it my family or
friends or sometimes even a teacher. One thing that I noticed is us teenagers
tend to stay away from our family members without even knowing we are doing
it. Trust me they care and want to help you, so give them a chance. Maybe take
a break by just spending time with your family.
Some of us may be the one who gets all the relaxation and entertainment,
sometimes even more than they are supposed to and ends ups getting nothing
done and then get stressed about it. Well, maybe you need to get things in
order, it never too late to get a fresh start. Maybe you can get a timetable and
organize yourself that you get all your work done or maybe you need something
to control your spend on your phone or laptop.
There are many apps out there that help you achieve this. You download it on
your phone or laptop and at the end of the day you get a review on how much
time you spend distracted on your gadgets. I found these very helpful and it
motivated me to stay on track and get my work done. One app that I found
very helpful is called "Rescue time". It’s an app that controls the time you spend
on websites and apps and also records how much time you spends on each
activity you do on your gadgets.
Look, there are times when you are stressed and nothing can change it, I have
had those times and so have everyone else so it's not like you are not going to
survive, you will get through it and survive. Listen, if there is one thing you need
to know that is that "If you are determined enough and put enough hard work
to achieve something, the entire universe will stand by you and help you achieve
it."

Mindfulness

  • 1. I am a third year student studying in St. Dominic's College. One thing that I have noticed is that us student have a lot of stress and when I asked my parents and teachers about it they said that during their time they didn't have half the stress. When we think of the origin of stress, we all start to think of exams and project due dates. There is also all the friendship and relationship drama that we teenagers tend to go through when we are in secondary school. Some of us out there suffer depression, anxiety and all sorts of problems, but trust me, we're in this together. Well there is nothing to do about them other than face them so let's think about how to at least reduce the stress we go through while facing these problems. Mindfulness is one of the ways that will help you get through this. Mindfulness is when you think about life and ways you can enjoy it. Mindfulness is something that will give you time to find a bit of peace in your hectic lifestyle. There are many forms of mindfulness some can include physical activities to help you concentrate like yoga. Mindfulness is when you just think of everything in a positive and try to understand a situation by looking at other people's perspectives. Another form is meditation, where you can just let out all thoughts in your mind that causes anxiety, depression or even excitement and just imagine a world full of peace according to you. For instance, you can imagine a jungle
  • 2. where each and every creature has their own way of living manages to merge together. There is also at times where both of these things don't help you and you need something that will relax and you make you more productive. That's where sports and activities come in. Don't be afraid to go for walk when you feel stressed after revising a chapter. A bit of fresh air is always good for you! You know exercise is very important and can help your brain focus more on what you are doing. Ever realized that you get your homework done more quickly after doing P.E. at school? Another very important thing is to eat healthily and that is very important. Try and have a good healthy breakfast at the start of the day. Nothing can revive you up other than a good breakfast full of nutrients in the morning. Do you feel that you get in the morning when you breakfast then at least try to have a glass of milk or a glass of orange juice? At the start of the day: Go slow on fizzy drinks, chocolate bars and oily snacks and instead have some fruit that are full of vitamins. Doing all of this and still stressed, maybe you just need to chill! Don't work yourself out too much and don't be scared to take a break watch a movie or listen to your favourite band. Sometimes we students are stressed so much that we forget that we have life outside books, copies and exams. Something that helps me a lot when I am stressed is talking to someone, be it my family or friends or sometimes even a teacher. One thing that I noticed is us teenagers tend to stay away from our family members without even knowing we are doing
  • 3. it. Trust me they care and want to help you, so give them a chance. Maybe take a break by just spending time with your family. Some of us may be the one who gets all the relaxation and entertainment, sometimes even more than they are supposed to and ends ups getting nothing done and then get stressed about it. Well, maybe you need to get things in order, it never too late to get a fresh start. Maybe you can get a timetable and organize yourself that you get all your work done or maybe you need something to control your spend on your phone or laptop. There are many apps out there that help you achieve this. You download it on your phone or laptop and at the end of the day you get a review on how much time you spend distracted on your gadgets. I found these very helpful and it motivated me to stay on track and get my work done. One app that I found very helpful is called "Rescue time". It’s an app that controls the time you spend on websites and apps and also records how much time you spends on each activity you do on your gadgets. Look, there are times when you are stressed and nothing can change it, I have had those times and so have everyone else so it's not like you are not going to survive, you will get through it and survive. Listen, if there is one thing you need to know that is that "If you are determined enough and put enough hard work to achieve something, the entire universe will stand by you and help you achieve it."
