1. Earn it and Save it!
Grade-Kindergarten
Subject-Math
Duration-45 minutes (1 class period)
Georgia Performance Standards: MKN1h
Identify coins by name and value (penny, nickel, dime, and quarter.)
Materials:
Teacher’s edition book
Promethean Board
ActivInspire computer program
Earning and Saving Money graphic organizer
Graph paper
Access to Internet
Goals: Students will work together and individually to come up with ways they can earn and
save money.
Objectives:
Cognitive- Students will come up with their own ways to earn and save money.
Psychomotor- Auditory, musical, visual
Procedures:
1. First, the teacher will start out giving an overview of today’s lesson.
2. After a brief overview of lesson, teacher will play a song for an attention
grabber. (Show Me the Money) by Harry’s Kindergarten
2. 3. While seated at the carpet, discuss ways to earn money and ways to save
money.
4. Teacher should make a chart for a visual example.
5. After completing the chart together, students should be instructed back to
their seats.
6. While seated, teacher should hand out individual charts to each students.
7. While students are completing chart, teacher should go around assisting
them.
8. After each student has completed the activity, teacher should call on various
students to give their own examples on how they are going to earn and save
money.
