INTRODUCTION
Science library of a school is its mirror and a well equipped.
Science library should be the primary requisite of every school.
It is the place where students sit and do the independent work.
It is a place where the students go in for further
study in the subject.
It serves as an instrument for developing skills and aptitudes
among the pupils.
A well set-up library is the replica of a good institution.
IMPORTANCE OF SCIENCE LIBRARY
 Develop scientific attitudes among students.
 Develop the teachers to extend their scientific knowledge.
 Help in putting progressive method of teaching science.
 Facilitate self-study and self-education.
 Develop the students to be anxious to know more and more
about science.
 Make the students know everything about the surrounding
world.
ORGANISATION OF A SCIENCE LIBRARY
 A general library With a science section is cheap to maintain.
 Science library facilitates easy borrowing of books from the
concerned science teacher.
 It may also provide an opportunity for the teacher concerned
to note the reading habits and interests of his wards.
 AS science library is not available , it may be either kept
in the laboratory or In the lecture hall.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS NEEDED FOR A SCIENCE
LIBRARY
 Science library must keep in an Attractive room that is well ventilated.
 There must be a bulletin board in the science library.
 It highlightS the important daily news item connected
with science.
 There should be provision for boys/girls to sit, read and
write in the library.
 It should be kept open everyday - during interval and
outside school hours too.
CLASSIFICATION OF BOOKS IN A SCIENCE LIBRARY
popular magazines and standard books
prescribed text books, workbooks and relateD textbooks.
books that inspire the students.
books containing background information.
USES OF SCIENCE LIBRARY FOR STUDENTS AND
TEACHERS
. It act as a source of inspiration for teachers.
.it gives knowledge about the practical use of the experiments.
.it develops interest in the study of science.
.it provides suitable base to the knowledge acquired in the classroom

Classroom teaching can be supplemented by libraries.
Research findings stress the importance of reading in learning science.
