3. If the words ‘Scottish spirits’ simply conjure up images
of good malt, think again! This is particularly true in
Aberdeen.
A ghost hunting experience in the Tolbooth Museum,
Aberdeen, will give the words a whole new meaning
to you. The museum is an easy walk from Union Street
(or a short ride on the 727 bus). The eerie experience
takes place at the Tolbooth Complex, formerly the
Tolbooth Prison, made up of 17th and 18th century
cells, complete with barred windows, original doors
and, for a final gory touch, the blade of a 17th
century guillotine, fondly known as ‘The Maiden’.
4. The museum is thought to be one of Scotland’s most
haunted buildings, filled, these days, with lifelike
waxwork images. Reports abound describing nights
filled with ghostly laughter, jangling keys and other
spooky stuff.
So, if you’re ready to experience the time of your life
(or the fright of your life, more like,) your next step will
be to purchase a Ghost Hunting Kit, available from
Tolbooth and other Aberdeen locations.
Once you’re comfortable with everything, your
Ghost Walk can begin. And, between you and me,
after your walk, suggestions of partaking in the other
sort of spirit may come up again pretty quickly!
