2. It is located in the oldest protected area on the Balkan
Peninsula - Vitosha Nature Park, on the northeastern slope
of Vitosha Mountain, in the Sofia Municipality.

a decree of the Council of Ministers
of the 27th October, 1934, when parts
of Vitosha were declared a protected
area. The purpose of its creation is to
keep unchanged the vegetation that
is typical of the mountain
