places that showcase the history
such as Thaba-Bosiu National
Monument which is the historic site
of King Moshoeshoe 1,the founder
of Basotho nation. It is located
between the Mohokare (Orange
and Caledon Rivers) in Maseru near
the profile of Mount Qiloane.

3. Significant Mountains
• Thaba-Bosiu has a steep vertical cliffs alongside the
ridge that is accessible for tourists to climb the
mountain. Tourists visit because they believe it
possess supernatural powersThaba-Bosiu which made
it to grow into a tall mountain at night. The cultural
village was built at its place showing traditional
dwellings from different parts of Lesotho.
• Mount Moorosi is one of the historical mountain in
Lesotho. Mount Moorosi is located in Quthing and it is
the home to the cliff-fringed fortress of chief Moorosi
who was the chief in 1850s. Mount Moorosi has a
valley called Sebapala that is magnificent high
mountain valley located on the A4 road. Tourists visit
Sebapala because they want to explore the beautiful
valleys and lush sorrounding.
4. Falls
• Lesotho has different places of attraction that were
naturally created such as Maletsunyane falls.It is
located in Semonkong in Maseru with a drop of 630
feet (192m)high.It is one of the world ‘s highest
waterfalls that attracts more tourists. Maletsunyane
fall is a single cataract on a tributary of the Orange
River in Lesotho with (75 Miles) 121km Southeast of
Maseru.
5. National Parks
• Lesotho has national parks such
as Sehlaba-thebe and
Ts'ehlanyane. Sehlaba-thebe
National Park is the oldest
nature reserve in the country
and it is located in Qacha’s
Nek,on the eastern edge of the
Maloti mountains at an altitude
ranging from 2200m to 2600m
above the sea.The rare and
endangered species as well as
distinction landscape made
other people to think on how to
conserve those species for
future generation or other
purpose by making parks.
6. • Sehlabathebe National park is located in the isolated land filled with
various rock formations, flowing rivers, waterfalls and rock paintings .It’s
inaccessibility has left the pure and unspoiled by man which makes it the
perfect wilderness destination for animals and birds found on the place.
Tourists visit because they want to see those animals and birds found.
7. • Animals found in Sehlaba-thebe
National park are grey rhebok,a
medium sized antelope that favours
high altitude. Chacma baboons are
found in the cliffs,that barks before
they can be seen by the tourists.
There is ice-rat that come out of
their burrows to sunbathe on the
rocks and a rare bearded vulture
circling the skies in search of food.
8. • Ts’ehlanyane National park is the second park found in Lesotho.It is
located in the Lesotho Highlands area at Maloti mountains in Leribe. It is
found in an isolated area where man cannot distract or endanger animals
and plants in that place. These species found in Ts’ehlanyane are
mammalian species,plants and park birds.
9. • Parks management are dedicated to safeguard,promote,conserve and share the
country rich natural and socio-cultural heritage among others at the right
time.These species play an important role in people’s life,for example plants
conserved are used to make different medicines.There are species found in
Ts’ehlanyane such as ice-rat,African wild cat,plants as fynbos ,park birds as
pied starling,Cape white eyes and sunbird.
10. • Apart from national parks that conserve Flora’s and faunas,there is a
botanical garden that attracts tourists at Katse village called Katse
botanical garden.Katse botanical garden is a center of Alpine Flora’s
located near Katse dam.The gardens were created as a result of plant
rescue such as spiral aloe,aloe mellanthus comosus and others.The
conservers work together to protect plants ana animals even though
Katse conserves plants only.

11. Conclusion
Lesotho has unique mountains such as Thaba-Bosiu,Mount
Moorosi,nature reserves as Sehlaba-thebe and T’s ehlanyane
national park,Katse botanical garden and attractive waterfalls such
as Maletsunyane falls as stated above.This magnificent attractions
enhances the country’s economy as tourists visit more often to
explore it’s beauty.
