24. 1. Apply Tooling (E) onto thrust washer (16) . Install thrust washer (16) . Install wear ring (15)
with the diagonal cut toward the top. Lubricate lip seal (14) with the lubricant that is being
sealed. Install lip seal (14) with the split that is in the lip seal toward the top and positioned
as shown above. Apply Tooling (E) onto Surface (X) .

2. Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device in order to install housing (11) . The weight of
housing (11) is approximately 231 kg (510 lb). Install retainers (13) . Install bolts (12) .
Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (11 ± 2 lb ft). Install plug (10) . Tighten plug
(10) to a torque of 16 N·m (12 lb ft). Use a suitable soft hammer in order to drive the wear
ring into housing (11) until the edge of the wear ring is flush with the top of the bore.
Note: Ensure that retainers (12) completely cover the split that is in the lip seal.
