1. Introduction and History of Taj Mahal:
The Taj Mahal is an Historical Indian Monument built by Mughal Emperor
Shah Jahan with ivory-white marble (formerly known as Sange Marmar in
Urdu) for the purpose of tomb of his beloved wife Mumtaz lies in the Indian
City Agra in the State of Uttar Pradesh. The Tomb lies exactly in the Center of
42 Acre Complex which consists of Mosque and a Guest House which is
sorrounded by the three sides of the Gardens with the Crenellated Wall. It was
commissioned in 1632 in the reign of Shah Jahan(1628-1658) and the Tomb’s
construction was completed in the year 1643, while the other premises in the
Complex excluding Tomb was fully completed in the year 1653. It was
designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and termed as “The Jewel
of the Muslim Art ofIndia“. It was universally approved masterpieces ofWorld
Heritage. It was declared as a 7 Wonders of the World (2000–2007) initiative.
Cost to Built:
At that time, the estimated Costwhich is spent to built Taj Mahalwas around 32
million Rupees(956 million USD). The construction of the Project employed to
20,000 labours/artisans under the guidance of Boards of Architect led by
the Ustad Ahmed Lahauri.
Some Interesting Facts about Taj Mahal:
1. Nowadays, most of the tourists who visits Taj Mahal doesn’tknows that what
they’re seeing from the Front is actually a backside of a Taj Mahal. The Main
Entry Gate(Shahi Darwaza) was situated at the Backside facing the Yamuna
River. At the time of Mughal’s Reign, the river is only a way to Enter the Taj
Mahal. The King and their courtiers/guests was used to come by a Boat in the
premises. When the rivers filled, the platform where they were used to Alight
from a boat got damaged.
2. There are rumours around the peoples that Emperor Shah Jahanwas used to
slaughter the Hand of the Labours who worked on Taj Mahal but this is not true.
Actually, the emperor provides them a Lifetime Wages so that no one can repeat
the creations of such Marvels.
3. The 4 sorrounded Towers of Taj Mahalis not layed straight, it was slightly
bent on outside direction so that if any Natural
Calamities especially Earthquake occurs, the Towers should fall outside and
does not damage the main building.
4. The Calligraphy onTajMahal consists ofthe Verses of Holy Quran It was
done by Jasper on white Marbles in Thuluth Script. It was written

was called from Iran.
5. The Carvings on the stone was Guided by the Workers of Italy and carvers
were called from Bukhara District of Uzbekistan and to crush the Stones,
labours was called from Balochistan.
6. The Mumtaz Mahal whose full name is Arjumand Banu Begumwas died in
year 1631 was buried in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradeshand afterwards
when building of Taj Mahal was Completed then her body was shifted and
Buried under main dome of Taj Mahal.
7. The Concert of Emperor Shah Jahan was just to beautify the structures
of Taj Mahal and therefore, his own son Aurangzeb caged up his father.
When Shah Jahan was asked that what he wants, then he said that Lock me at
the Place from where I can get a view of TajMahal and his Aspire got accepted
and he died at that place and got buried along with his wife.
How to Reach:
By Air: The nearest Airport to Taj Mahal is Agra Airport which lies 12.3km
approx from the Taj Mahal. You can get by the Auto Rickshaw orCab from
Airport. The approx fare of Cab like OLA and UBER lies between 200-300
Rupees from Airport. But Auto Rickshaw is a best option if you are a Budget
Traveller.
By Train: There are two important Railway Stations in Agra District Agra
Cantt & Agra Fort out of which Agra Fort Railway Station is nearest.
-From Agra Fort Station, it lies approx 4Km away. The cheapest option is that
you can get an UBER/OLA Auto Rickshaw with fare between 30-40 Rupees. If
you are a solo Traveller you can get there by OLA Bike which costs 12-15
Rupees. Besides these an OLA and UBER Cabs costs 90-120Rs depending on a
Car model.
-From Agra Cantt Station, it lies approx 6 km away and again the cheapest
option is Auto Rickshaw. You can get a sharing Auto from Agra Cantt Station
to Bijli Ghar in 10 Rupees and from Bijli Ghar to Taj Mahal in 15 Rupees which
makes a cheaper way to get there.
By Road: Well, Agra is well accessed by the Yamuna Expressway, Agra-
Lucknow Expressway, NH44 and Agra-Mumbai National Highway. There
are interstate Bus Services of UPSRTC which can get you by another parts
of Uttar Pradesh State. Some HSRTC and RSRTC Buses can connect you
with Agra also.
