1. Error 1706: The feature you are trying to use is on a network
resource that is unavailable.
2. Specify Appropriate Network Path
and FVM Package Name
For Windows 8.1/ 8:
Press Windows Key + X.
Click Command Prompt (Admin).
Click Yes to confirm.
Type the following command, and press ENTER:
xxxsetup.exe /zzz.msi
Note: xxx represents the Net Network Path and zzz
represents the FVM Package Name.
3. For Earlier Versions of Windows:
Click the Start button.

4. Uninstall and Reinstall Internet
Explorer

Press Windows Key + X.
Click Programs and Features.
Click “Turn Windows features on or off ” link.
Uncheck Internet Explorer checkbox.

Reboot your PC.
Download the latest version of Microsoft Internet
Explorer from the Microsoft Download Center. Install
it on your PC.

Temporary Contents
For Windows 8.1/ 8 and Earlier Versions:
Double click Computer desktop shortcut.
Right click a disk drive, select Properties.
Click the Tools tab.
Click Disk CleanUp button.
Follow the on-screen instructions. The disk
analyzation process will be started. Then, check-up all
the boxes to clean-up the temporary contents stored
on your hard disk.
7. End MSIEXEC.EXE Process
For Windows 8.1/ 8:
Press Windows Key + X.
Click Task Manager.
Click “More details”.
Click the Processes tab.
Right click a process named msiexec.exe, select End
Task.
Restart your computer and re-start the setup
bootstrapper.
8. For Earlier Versions of
Windows:
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
Click “Open Task Manager” link.
Click the Processes tab.
Right click the name of the process labeled
msiexec.exe
Select End Process option.
Reboot your PC for the changes to take effects.

Click Next button.
Type a name for your new shortcut. Click Finish button.
Right click the shortcut of the setup file, select Run as administrator.
10. Re-start Windows Installer
Service Press Windows Key + X.
Select Run.
Type “services.msc” in the Open textbox.
Click the OK button.
Right click Windows Installer service.
Select Properties.
Set Startup Type: Automatic
Click the Stop button.
Click OK.
Exit the dialog, restart your Windows. You won’t receive
Internet Explorer Error 1706 Setup.chm again.
