Caravan for Change Report(Abstract)
An important feature of 16 Days of Activism in Tanzania(2012) was the ‘Caravan for
Change’.It was an awareness-raising activity which entailed a bus driving from Dar es Salaam
to the Mara region. On its 1120 km route, the bus was required to stop in strategically chosen
locations, Eastern zone- Dar es Salaam, Central zone- Singida, Northern zone- Kilimanjaro
and Lake zone- Tarime
The purpose of the Caravan for Change was to reach out to a country-wide audience and to
spread advocacy messages of the year 2012.Caravan for Change was also used as a media-
savvy tool that attracts adequate media attention and raises self-perpetuating levels of
awareness.
Furthermore, caravan for change was also used as an opportunity to foster policy dialogue,
promote knowledge-sharing and enhance mutual understanding within communities.
