Comparing Fahrenheit 451 And Red Scarf Girl

21 August 2015 Imagine a world where anything that contained knowledge was destroyed. Imagine a world where thousands of minds are put on a
leash instead of being able to explore its' full potential. Communism, power, and government control are all major topics that readers will experience
and come to know in both of these complex books. For example, in Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, the people are not allowed to read books instead
they must learn through video and from what the government tells them. If people are found with books their homes are burn along with the books.
Furthermore, this gives the government a chance to exploit the people and to keep their knowledge to a minimum. If the people gain ... Show more

First, the books persuade the reader to be more aware of those in power and how their decision could control the lives of many. For example, "Our
leader had taken advantage of our trust and loyalty to manipulate the whole country. This is the most frightening lesson of the Cultural Revolution:
Without a sound legal system, a small group or even a single person can take control of an entire country (Jiang 266)." Secondly, the books inform the
readers of communism, power, and government control. Also they inform the readers of how knowledge of reading could help them become a better
person. In Fahrenheit 451 the government is used as propaganda to manipulate the opinions of the people. In Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, the
government burns the books. By doing this a vast amount of information is destroyed, from literature books and playwrights to philosophical works to
information about government policies. Lastly, the books explain the main characters' attitude toward the situation. For example, "Destroying the Four
Olds was a new battle, and an important one: It would keep China from losing her Communist ideals. Though we were not facing real guns or real
tanks, this battle would be even harder, because our enemies, the rotten ideas and customs we were so used to, were inside ourselves (Jiang 28–29)."
In the beginning Ji–Li Jiang feels loyal to the revolution until

The Unnecessary Destruction of Hiroshima
On August 6th, 1945, at 8:15 Japan time, the United States dropped an atomic bomb named "Little Boy" on Hiroshima, Japan. Little Boy was
dropped from the Enola Gay, from 31,000ft and detonated at 1,900ft above Hiroshima. Dropping the atomic bomb destroyed the city, ruined and
negatively changed people's lives, and killed thousands of people. Some say it was necessary to drop it because of the lives it saved. It didn't save
lives. It was unnecessary to drop the atomic bomb because of the amount of destruction and lives it ruined.
The atomic bomb caused a lot of unnecessary destruction when it was dropped on Hiroshima. It had destroyed houses and work buildings in
Hiroshima, such as the hospital in which Dr. Fujii lived and worked. Dr. Fujii's hospital was smashed "all around him in a mad assortment of
splintered lumber and materials for the relief of pain" (John Hersey, 11). Buildings were blown apart, caught fire, and completely obliterated.
Two–thirds of Hiroshima were demolished. Out of the 90,000 buildings in Hiroshima, 60,000 buildings were destroyed within a three mile radius of
the epicenter. The havoc could have been avoided by not dropping the atomic bomb.
Many people had their lives unfairly changed and even ruined from the atomic bomb. The victims of radiation poisoning and burns had to deal with
disfiguring ailments. They had dark burns across their bodies. Their hair burned off. Skin drooped from the radiation and blast. The bomb also
irradiated the people nearby

Gregory Lee Johnson
People watched in shock; Protesters and none protesters circled around as Gregory Lee Johnson lit the American Flag on fire. Why would a man
disrespect a symbol such as the American flag, that represents freedom, liberty and democracy? Was he protected by the constitution's first
amendment? The Supreme Court answered all these questions we had by voting in favor of Johnson. Johnson's intentions were only political, and
he as the freedom of speech. The Supreme Court was correct on this decision on letting Johnson go, since he was protected by his amendments,
and no matter what the action was, if the amendment gives us the right, we should be entitled to our freedoms. In August of 1984, supporters came
to Dallas Texas to come to the Republican National Convention, where President Ronald Reagan was being elected to run for president for a
second round. Outside of these supporters for the presidential leaders were protesters. These protesters were angry with the new Reagan Policies.
Protesters marched the streets chanting "Red, white, and blue, we spit on you!" Kicking over flower pots, spray painting walls, and they acted out
nuclear attacks. When the protesters came to the front of city hall, 100 people circled around to watch a man by the name of Gregory Lee Johnson
pour kerosene over an American Flag and begin to burn it. Many people stood in awe as Johnson stood next to our desecrating flag. 45 minutes after
Johnson was arrested by Texas police. The aftermath of the flag

Revelation, When The Fifth Seal Is Being Open By Jesus The...
According to the Book of Revelation, when the sixth seal is being open by Jesus the Manhattan Project is already in the thought planning phase. In
June 1942, God's strategy proves the Manhattan Project is, a methodical effort run by the military [under great secrecy], and once complete will be
a turning point in World War II . In other words, in John's vision, the sixth seal is a warning to all humans that any problem of any hour is solvable,
and for those who are no longer part of his Kingdom of God, will be cast out for eternity. One of the most characteristic features of the Manhattan
Project is not to understand the weapons impending doom, but is a divine purpose, that if anyone who fails to understand the significance of the
project's truth will not know the full extent of God's purpose. With the United State scientists and the military, no introduction is necessary, since it's
beginnings, the project is part of several espionage attacks from other countries, for the reasons they know any completion of the project will be
synonymous with an end to the Antichrist's time. Yet, the project as a great evil will damn the souls of thousands by exchanging counterfeit solutions
for natural human problems that will ordinarily lead a person to God but will all be part of superstitious darkness for decades to come. While this
project, interferes with each person, it does send whole populations to look for a savior, not of divine power, but to the President of the United States

Why Is Joe Jackson Banned In 1919
The 1919 White Sox––the White Sox of Eddie Collins, Eddie Cicotte, Dickie Kerr, Ray Schalk, Buck Weaver and "Shoeless" Joe Jackson––are
considered by baseball historians to be one of the greatest teams ever to take the field (Solomon). The "Black" Sox were the major favorites of the
World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. Chicago had the better pitching, the better hitting, and the better fielding, but they somehow lost. The
"Black" Sox lost in eight games, back in 1919 the only playoff series they was the World series so they played a max of nine games. A few months
after the Reds won the World Series, on December fifteenth, 1919, "The New York World published an explosive article by Hugh Fullerton
suggesting the the World Series was fixed" (Linder). This article shocked the entire United States. Newspapers across America had the fix on the cover
of their paper. There were eight men on that Chicago team that supposedly threw the1919 World Series. One of those men being: Joe Jackson.
"Shoeless" Joe Jackson, a former Major League Baseball player, who is said to have the skills that rival those of the great Babe Ruth, was wrongfully
banned from the MLB and did not throw the 1919 world series because of the gambling, his statistics, and trial. Bruce Allardice, a writer for the

the uniforms (Szczepanik). When he found out about the fix he offered twenty–thousand dollars to anyone who had any information about the possible

Compare And Contrast Essay On Hiroshima And Nagasaki
The Atomic Bomb of Hiroshima and Nagasaki A quote from Lyndon B. Johnson said "The atomic bomb certainly is the most powerful of all
weapons, but it is conclusively powerful and effective only in the hands of the nation which controls the sky". World War II was a revolutionary
era in combat mode, as this new era had the advantages of new technology in weapons and combat techniques. The decision of President Truman to
drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, it was to hasten the end of the war by an overwhelming show of force and also, to curb
the massive US casualties in the Pacific front. The decision of the nuclear bomb by the President Truman is a trending topic for many because

The moral standards and ethical rules of any human being can be abolish or ignore whenever a war is present. During a war the use of torture and
devil tactics like the shooting of soldiers, rapes and even denying health care services are very common. Everything that happens in a war is justified
because it is in order to get the victory and to scare the enemy(Greenwell). After WWII the way of fighting changed completely by the use of new
weapons. The use of nuclear bombs reshape the way of war because the use of science and new technology made fighting faster which means killing

Aston–Blair, Inc.
Bringing Aston–Blair 's June 12 executive committee meeting to a close Wynn Aston, III, chief executive officer and chairman of the board, asked
Peter Casey, vice president of marketing, and Chris Trott, vice president of corporate planning, to seriously reexamine the company 's procedures for
forecasting sales. Aston hoped that improved product demand projections would lead to better inventory control, financial planning, and production
scheduling. Aston–Blair had suffered significant losses in the first quarter of 2004 and expected even greater losses in the second quarter (the first
losses the company had experienced since 1975). Aston felt that poor forecasting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The success of Aston–Blair's other films often depended upon the timing and popularity of major new releases by its rivals, making accurate
forecasting difficult. Moreover, as the firm has tried to increase sales growth, it has introduced more completely new titles and relied less on sequels to
past hits. The increasing emphasis on new titles has further complicated forecasting efforts. The combination of declining demand and Aston's Blair's
overly optimistic sales forecasts for the first two quarters of 2004 had resulted in excessive inventories and sizable losses. Aston–Blair 's current
problems stood in dramatic contrast with the company 's recent record of outstanding growth and profitability. Aston 's great grandfather founded the
company in 1910 as a producer of children's books, and as the company evolved into multimedia, it had always enjoyed a reputation for being a
premiere supplier. During Aston 's 10–year stewardship as chief executive officer, the firm had quadrupled in size and had become the most profitable
firm in the industry. Aston attributed this recent success to the company 's aggressivemarketing efforts and to its ability to identify potential multimedia
users and to work with them in developing products tailored to their requirements. Under Aston 's and Pack 's direction, the company was the first firm
in the industry to develop a marketing organization where market

Economic Effect of Atomic Bomb
viernes, 31 de agosto de 2012 Economic effects of the atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki The morning of 6 of August 1945 a single atomic
bomb called "Little Boy" exploded over the city of Hiroshima at 8:15, devastating almost the entire metropolis. "Little Boy" was 10 feet long,
weighted 9,000 pounds, and was dropped from a height of 31,600 feet, exploding at 2,000 above Hiroshima with the force of 20K tons of TNT. A
conventional bomb would have destroyed only the wooden structures within a 40 meters radius, but the atomic bomb that smashed Hiroshima was
able to affect everything within a radius of 2 kilometers of the point of explosion. Altogether an area of 13 square kilometers was reduced to ashes and

Following the atomic explosion over Hiroshima, many survivors feared that nothing would grow on the decimated earth. By the time spring of 1946
arrived, the citizens of Hiroshima were surprised to find the landscape dotted with the blooming red petals of the oleander. The oleander flower,
called the kyochikuto in Japanese, dispelled worries that the destroyed city had lost all its fertility and inspired the population with hope that
Hiroshima would soon recover from the tragic bombing. Now the official flower of Hiroshima, the oleander offers a beautiful symbol for the city as a
whole; while some feared that the city and its population were irreparably destroyed–permanently cut off from normality by the effects of
radiation–many would be surprised to learn of the limited long term health effects the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 have
had. Within the first few months after the bombing, it is estimated by the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (a cooperative Japan–U.S.
organization) that between 90,000 and 166,000 people died in Hiroshima, while another 60,000 to 80,000 died in Nagasaki. These deaths include those

Wildfires, Arizona, Utah, Colorado Wildfires
Wildfires have always been a part of our lives on this rock we call Earth. Over the years we have developed tried and true ways to battle and
extinguish them, but in the recent past it has become more and more of a problem considering their increase in size and weather patterns. These
factors have been termed with a phase every American knows all too well, "Global Warming!" The western half of the United States has had to deal
with these fires more than any other area of the country. Of the western half, the state of Colorado has seen its share of some of the worst wildfires.
Since the 1970 's the normal number of flames in excess of 1,000 sections of land every year has almost quadrupled in Arizona and Idaho, and has

In order to understand global warming one must know exactly what it means. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, global
warming is defined as "the recent and ongoing rise in global average temperature near Earth 's surface" (EPA.gov, 2014). Humans are considered to
be a big reason for this rise in temperatures over the last forty years. This is due to our extensive use of using fuels for energy that release carbon dioxide
, also called the greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere. Every car driven on the road releases this substance as well as fuels used to heat homes and
provide power to our everyday lives. There are also other factors that play a role into this explosion of rising temperatures. The EPA website states,
"The majority of greenhouse gases come from burning fossil fuels to produce energy, although deforestation, industrial processes, and some
agricultural practices also emit gases into the atmosphere" (EPA.gov, 2014). Trees are the atmospheres filter for carbon dioxide but when we
continually dump more and more of this gas into the air and cut down more and more of the forests the balance of the Earth becomes skewed and the
temperatures increase. There are other factors to consider that can create fire. These other factors have people questioning whether global warming is
real. One of these people happens to be Sean Paige, a former city councilman for Colorado Springs and deputy director of Americans

How The Atomic Bomb Changed Warfare History
"Till this day, I will never recover from the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings."
70 Years ago in the midst of Japan lies two cities called Hiroshima and Nagasaki where 129,000 to 246,000 lives were taken away within the space of
two days. August 6th 1945 the first atomic bomb was dropped over the two cities in Japan by the United States of America which ultimately changed
the warfare history forever. In the city of Nagasaki 80,000 remains were discovered and in Hiroshima 20,000 soldiers were killed and up to 146,000
civilians were killed (Wikipedia, 2015). During the final year of the war the American Allies decided to prepare and anticipate a very expensive attack
on the Japanese mainland's (Wikipedia, 2015).
An interview was conducted on a man named Theodore Van Kirk, who was originally the navigator of the aircraft called "Enola Gay" (The Telegram,
1945). Van Kirk explained on August 6, 1945 that Colonel Paul Tibbett's was under command of the famous B

first atomic bomb used in combat on Hiroshima, Japan to end World War II and begin the Atomic Age (The Telegram, 1945). "The B

Three Examples Of Dystopian Fiction
Science fiction is a genre of writing involving plots and themes related to future scientific advances and major social changes, often coming from the
author's imagination rather than from factual knowledge. With the advancement of Man's knowledge resulting from the scientific revolution, fictional
predictions about the future resulted in believable new works of science fiction. Some authors pictured future technologies that would benefit mankind
in some way or would let mankind explore new boundaries that had previously limited the human experience. One of these authors was Jules Verne
whose imagination allowed him to pen ideas about electrical submarines and solar sails. However, other authors envisioned a bleak dystopian world in
which mankind has lost many important objects, and sometimes intangible values as well. Three examples of dystopian fiction are Aldous Huxley's
Brave New World and George Orwell's two novels, Animal Farm and 1984. Through these and other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Poland, known as the Soviet Non–Aggression Pact. Germany continued to invade other countries, and began WWII. Over the next two years, the
Soviet Union invaded Finland, Baltic States, and signed a neutrality pact with the Japanese Empire. Russia and Germany for the next two years did not
view each other as enemies, but Hitler had other intentions. Germany had plans to invade the Soviet Union, to remove the Communists and the

Summary
The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. The city is pretty much utterly destroyed, and thousands died. Though
there are some survivors of the blast, they still are suffering from burns and injuries. This book goes through the lives of six of the survivors. Mrs.
Hatsuyo Nakamura is watching her neighbors kids when the bomb detonated. The house was destroyed and they were all covered with debris. An
office clerk, Miss Toshiko Sasaki, is trying to talk to a coworker, then she is blasted out of nowhere. She is then trapped under all of the heavy
bookcases in the office. At this point she has a broken leg. Masakazu Fujii is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mrs. Nakamura is still receiving medical help for the many radiation illnesses, she is also staying away from the political rallies that are held by
some of the other survivors. Those survivors are now called the "hibakusha." Dr. Sasaki ran a very good medical practice. He then lost his wife to
cancer. Father Kleinsorge was ill for many years after the event, he was in and out of the hospital. Miss Sasaki became a nun, helping people to die in
peace. Dr. Fujii died of cancer. Mr. Tanimoto, the reverend, he traveled to America a few time trying to raise money to aid the hibakusha, he then retired.
Professional Review Hiroshima was, as I'm sure Hersey hoped, an eye–opening read. Hersey's style provided for not only an interesting story, but also
a very personalized, journalistic view of the event and its aftermath. I'd strongly recommend the book to others; on the front cover, the Saturday
Review of Literature is quoted as saying, "Everyone able to read should read it," and I agree. If we do not wish to see such death, devastation, and
despair again, in our "civilized" world, we need accounts like this to educate us.

Ray Bradbury 's There Will Come Soft Rain
Ray Bradbury short story There will come soft rain is a chilling science fiction that hits closer to home than we like to admit. Ray Bradbury's theme,
setting and image shows what this can truly happen to all of us. "There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground, And swallows circling with
their shimmering sound; And frogs in the pools singing at night, And wild plum trees in tremulous white, Robins will wear their feathery fire whistling
their whims on a low fence–wire; And not one will know of the war, not one will care at last when it is done. Not one would mind, neither bird nor
tree If mankind perished utterly; And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn, Would scarcely know that we were gone." This poem showing the
world will not care when the human race is gone. The world will go on with our without us. It is the year 2026, almost ten years and seven months

well as remind it the date and time. It also cleans for the people living in it constantly as well as set activities to pass the time, but all that is heard is
silence. The house tells the inhabitants the daily events and what to do at what time. But there is something different about this particular house. The

Report Introduction A motor fuel is a fuel that is used to provide power to motor vehicles. Most of the vehicles today are powered by either
gasoline or diesel. Power sources may also include ethanol, biodiesel, propane, compressed natural gas, electric batteries charged from an external
source, and hydrogen. ( Wikimedia Foundation, Inc, 2015) Fuel cell vehicles (FCV) run on hydrogen gas rather than gasoline. Several challenges
must be overcome before these vehicles will be competitive with conventional vehicles (powered by petroleum). (U.S department of energy)
Research Question Is it safe to use hydrogen, instead of petrol, as a fuel in cars? Hypothesis Hydrogen is not safer than petrol as a fuel in cars. In 1885
a German engineer called Karl Benz fastened a small gasoline (petrol) engine to a three–wheeled cart and made the first primitive, gas–powered car.
Although Benz developed the automobile, another German engineer, Nikolaus Otto he was the man who invented the gasoline engine in the first
place, about two decades earlier. The current day engine was greatly inspired by Otto's "four–stroke" design. (Bellis, 2015). Petroleum is also known as
"crude oil "and is a thick, black, energy–rich liquid buried deep underground which became the world 's most important source of energy (American

During the Cultural Revolution, China was under the rule of Communist Party leader Mao Zendong, who a majority of China, especially its

Two basic types of fireworks are the firecracker and sparkler. Firecrackers are simply made of rolled paper tubes with black powder, which is made of a

MLB: Our Nation's Pastime Baseball has always been a way for many Americans to get away from their problems and watch a game. The history of
baseball goes back many year. Together, we will be exploring, not just the history that people think about, but some of the history people may not
know about. The 1927 Murderers Row team was arguably one of the greatest teams to ever play in the MLB. "They had a 19 game finish ahead of the
second–place Philadelphia Athletics, went on to win World Series title"(Burns). As a team they "batted .307, scored almost 1,000 runs, and smashed
158 home runs in a 154–game season on their way to 110 wins"(Burns). One of the great players that made the team so good ... Show more content on

Robinson signed with a negro baseball team. He later went on to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers farm team. "What made Robinson most important,
however, was not merely how he played on the field, but the risks he took by going on the field at all"(Witherbee). On April 14, 1947, Jackie

The American Red Cross
For decades, America has fought in many different wars with the need of health assistance for their soldiers. The American Red Cross is a worldwide
organization that helped during the times of war but also provided a path for scientific advancements. Through the American Red Cross and other
organizations of this time, they opened up the doors for women to take the chance to advance in the medical field by participating in scientific
experiments and being at the aide of wounded soldiers. During this time of scrutiny, the Great War was a hidden opportunity for the encroachment of
medical research with the contribution to the expansion of nursing. Before the existence of the Great War, America had fought in previous wars. In
the years before the Great War nursing was not even a word for the women who had helped with the aid of fallen soldiers.Florence Nightingale, who
helped in establishing nursing as a career used her efforts in organizing an emergency nursing service (Dahlman 2). Nightingale started off at first with
forty women, some of whom were Sisters of Religious Nursing Orders and others hospital–taught women of the old school, not trained in the modern
way, but experienced (Dahlman 3). Florence Nightingale founded the Nightingale Training School for Nurses at St. Thomas' Hospital which was the
parent of the modern system of nursing. From her, therefore, we may well date the story of nursing service of the American Red Cross (Dahlman 4).

Case Study : The Firestone Complete Auto Care
A business that manufacturer's products or food products is aware that some problems may transpire, such as recalling the product due to various
reasons, for example health concerns or for safety reasons. Still a plan, especially a good crisis plan, should be implemented to be able to handle any
sorts of problems. Manufacturer companies also need to be ready to communicate to the stakeholders and let them know that they are their priority.
However, when a plan is not firmly established, completely ignored or do not take the responsibility for the crisis, the company can jeopardize not only
their reputation, but also loose financially, the way Firestone/Bridgestone and Ford Company had to undergo.
The Firestone Complete Auto Care is a company that produces and supplies pneumatic tires for various modes of wheeled transportation and they sold
the company to Bridgestone Corporation (Hicks, 1988). Nonetheless, a crisis transpired, where 6.5 million Firestone brand tires were recalled in
response to complaints the tires may be linked to fatal crashes (www.money.cnn.com, August 2000). These tires were manufactured and placed on Ford

The Pros And Cons Of Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
Looking back at my past years I recollect my school days when in my 5th standard I came across this very Law of Nature 'EVERY ACTION HAS
EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION', which was discovered, studied and was handed over to Science by the great Physicist Sir Newton. It seems
that our surroundings and Environment prove this very law and also the fact that it governs the functioning of our planet Earth. History has been
teaching humans from ages; the pros and cons of every success and failure in all possible aspects of life. One of the unforgettable acts that we regret is
bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It does not concern only the citizen of Japan rather it concerns the whole of human society sustaining life on this

Without warmth and sunlight for photosynthesis, plant life would die triggering mass starvation up the food chain. Toxic debris: The bomb exploded

What Are Your Risk Factors?
Essay on Skin Cancer Student: Christy Lenk ZerullDecember 1, 2014 What are your risk factors? Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer and
primarily caused by exposure to the ultra violet radiation produced by the sun. The two most common types of non– melanoma skin cancers are basal
cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Basal cell carcinoma usually forms in the areas exposed to the sun like the head and ears. It is slow
growing and accountable for roughly seventy five percent of all skin cancers. Squamous cell carcinoma also forms in thin areas exposed to the
sun like the face, lips and nose. It is more aggressive and unlike basal it can spread to other areas of the body. Lesser known non melanoma cancers
are Karposi Sarcoma found predominately in HIV patients. The deadliest form of skin cancer is melanoma which accounts for only four percent of
all skin cancers but accounts for seventy nine percent of all deaths attributed to skin cancer. The sun produces three types of UV one is UVA rays
that deeply penetrate the layers of the skin causing premature aging and cancer. UVB rays which are stronger than UVA's and cause the surface
burning. UVB rays are strongest during the summer months between 11a.m. and 4 p.m. UVC radiation is the most dangerous, blocked by the
atmosphere and never reaches the earth's surface. Skin cancer is preventable but still manages to increase an average of three percent a year striking

Weapons of Mass Destruction and Risk Galore
Weapons of mass destruction, as classified by the FBI, are any destructive devices, chemical or biological agents used with the intention of causing
death or injury on a large scale. These weapons have been used in history, but most are banned to due to the extent of destruction caused. The atom
bomb, probably the most well–known of these weapons were used sparingly but caused massive damage in the few areas affected. Chemical
weapons, agents that can be traced in Syria today, have the potential to spread quickly while causing death and severe injury to those affected. Like
chemical weapons, biological weapons which have been used since the early 1900's, possess the trait of quick contamination and severe damage to

In 1995, terrorists released chemical gas on a Tokyo subway; this resulted in several deaths and disabilities towards those who survived (OPCW). The
United States used chemicals in the Vietnam War; the spreading of these chemicals led to several health problems among US war veterans today,
limbless children in Vietnam, and 650,000 Vietnamese suffering from chronic conditions (McMillan). As chemical weapons are banned, Barack
Obama had reacted, as Syria used chemical weapons on its own people, to say that the use of chemical weapons is banned and those who fail to
comply have crossed the red line (Cagle Cartoons). Due to the fact that chemical weapons are internationally banned, it is obvious that they possess a
threat to security and mankind, especially as they can cause widespread damage as a result of their toxicity. The use of chemical weapons lead to a
large number of harmful effects toward the human body. Nerve agents lead to the malfunction of the nervous system, nausea, convulsions and spasms.
Other agents, like the blistering, choking, or blood agents result large blisters, 3rd degree burns, damage to the lungs, respiratory failure and death
(Shea). As a result, these harmful effects have led to the banning of chemical weapons as they possess abundant threats to humankind. To summarize,

Post-Civil War
Post–Civil War, the American people began to focus their energies on settling the West. Encouraged by the government, which had passed "a series of
laws dating to 1796 designed to facilitate the transfer of land from the public domain to private ownership", many common people attempted to make a
new start, picking everything up and moving out west–and I numbered among them (Brands 216). For us, the most useful of those laws was likely the
Homestead Act of 1862. It promised "free land to ordinary people", as long as we lived on the land for five years (Brands 215–216). Of course, the
number of people who actually did this was low; many faked it, "erecting a flimsy structure, summoning a witness who then swore to the federal land

successful–"[the workers brought] home probably a million dollars in wages...[and] the ambitions of their bosses were larger" (Brands 228). On the

Vietnamese traditional wedding.
Wedding day is the most important day for couples. But for Vietnamese people the wedding ceremony is not only important for couple but also for both
families. I would like to share with everybody about Vietnamese traditional wedding. Most Vietnamese traditions and cultures have influenced by
Chinese culture until today, so the wedding ceremony is also affected. Unlike the Western culture, in Vietnam after the bride was proposed by the
groom, groom and his family have to go to the bride's home to ask for wedding. The wedding ceremony is only carried out with the consent of the
bride and the groom family. Based on tradition and religion, marriage is organized according to different rituals. There are two main ceremonies are
betrothal ceremony and wedding ceremony. I will talk about the first main part is the betrothal ceremony. The betrothal day is the day that the groom's
family would go to bride's home with the gift of betel and areca to officially ask permission to receive the bride. Betel and areca are the special image
of the couple, indispensable in the traditional betrothal ceremony. At that time, bride's family would confirm and pick a good day for wedding. For
the Vietnamese, harmony between yin and yang is a very important factor. Choosing the wedding day will be based on the lunar calendar with age,
date of birth of the bride and groom. This choice will be decided by the monks, or by the eldest of the two families. The wedding

Canada Swot Analysis
Following the Second World War, Canada has made various efforts to improve its peacekeeping reputation, and beginning with them joining the
United Nations (UN) after its creation in 1945, they were mostly successful. However, not all of their efforts have been successful; they have also
made some mistakes along the way. A few examples of Canada's efforts within the last 60 years include the Suez Crisis in 1956, the United Nations
Mission for Rwanda from 1993 to 1996 and United Nations Operation in Somalia in 1992. One of Canada's most successful peacekeeping missions

Combustion Of Fireworks Research Paper
Fireworks started as people throwing bamboo into a fire to make a loud noise. To this day, fireworks have changed so dramatically! In the beginning
when gunpowder was discovered the Chinese would stuff bamboo with gunpowder and then light the bamboo to make a firework. Over time, scientist
have mixed different materials together to try and make a louder and brighter explosion. Instead of fireworks having a single casing there is multiple
casings. This helps fireworks to not explode all at once. Noises are also a big deal, in the beginning, it was crackling noises, over time scientist have
discovered that the more gunpowder you use the louder it gets. For a very long time the color of firework was yellow. During the 19th century,

There are 7 key factors to the successful combustion of fireworks. The first is fuel that burns the star. The most common type of fuel is charcoal,
however, black powder or gunpowder will also work. Next, oxidisers are vital because they provide oxygen that will stabilize the combustion of fuel.
Reducing agents, another part of the composition of a firework, burn the oxygen provided by the oxidiser in order to create hot gasses. Then,
regulators are metals that control the speed of the reaction. Next, one of the most important parts of the composition is the colouring agents. These are
what cause fireworks to have color. Certain elements will make certain colors such as, Strontium causes red, Copper makes blue, Barium creates green,
Sodium forms yellow, Calcium produces orange, and Iron provides gold. Combining Strontium and Copper will give off the color purple. A binder is
the next item of the composition. Binders secure the composition with a pasty substance like dextrin, paron, gum, or resin. The final ingredient is
chlorine donor. It reacts to the metals, and will intensify the

Hercules in the Roman Empire. (Crossen). In fact, based on the astronomical works completed before 1000 B.C., Hercules was referred to as Urku,

No Blood For Oil Summary

The Negative Effects Of Nuclear Weapons
In a split second, a single atomic bomb can wipe out and level an entire city. For what purpose do nuclear weapons serve other than to kill and
destroy? Therefore, nuclear weapons should not be produced, much less used, anywhere on Earth. They are incredibly dangerous and devastating to
human life, cause social tension between countries during times of war, and leave toxic radiation in the environment that fatally affects nearby life
for decades after. Nuclear weapons harness nuclear reactions to generate their power. There are two types: fission/atom bombs, which use nuclear
fission, or thermonuclear/hydrogen bombs. Which use nuclear fusion (Cochran & Norris 1). Nuclear weapons are classified as weapons of mass
destruction and are the most dangerous weapons ever created. As of now, there are about 9,495 known, unretired nuclear weapons; 4,300 in Russia,
4,000 in the US, 60 in North Korea, etc. (Gould 7). In 1970, the Treaty on the Non–Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which was created to limits the
increase of nuclear weapons, went into effect and has been signed by the US, Russia, the UK, etc. (Nuclear Threat Initiative 1–3). During World War II,

bar whenever you view an artist's official music video. Justin Beiber is testament to the power and popularity of cover songs, as his whole career
emerged from the success of a cover he recorded of "So Sick" by Ne–Yo in 2007. Fearless Records started to see their contribution to the covers
market bear fruit in 2012 when Punk Goes Pop 5 debuted at number sixteen on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. This represented the most successful
opening week in the history of the Punk Goes... series to date, indicating that the market for cover songs is even rising with alternative music fans.
Punk Goes Pop 5 also helped Mayday Parade reach number nineteen in the US Heatseekers Songs chart with their cover of Gotye's "Somebody that I

This result was gained through the water hardness analysis (refer to graph 1). The Eriochrome black T indicator was added to the water sample to
indicate the presence of calcium ions. EDTA was then titrated against the water sample to form a blue solution indicating how calcium ions are
contained. During the test, the pH is remained same by the usage of a pH 10 buffer. It is important to control the pH of the water sample because the
H+ ion plays a significant role in chelation. Most ligands are basic and bond to H+ ions through an extensive range of pH. Few of these H+ ions are
regularly banished from the ligands by the metal through chelate

Comparing Fahrenheit 451 And Red Scarf Girl

  • 1. Comparing Fahrenheit 451 And Red Scarf Girl Tiara Porter Mrs. Miller English 1 F Mod 21 August 2015 Imagine a world where anything that contained knowledge was destroyed. Imagine a world where thousands of minds are put on a leash instead of being able to explore its' full potential. Communism, power, and government control are all major topics that readers will experience and come to know in both of these complex books. For example, in Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, the people are not allowed to read books instead they must learn through video and from what the government tells them. If people are found with books their homes are burn along with the books. Furthermore, this gives the government a chance to exploit the people and to keep their knowledge to a minimum. If the people gain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, the books persuade the reader to be more aware of those in power and how their decision could control the lives of many. For example, "Our leader had taken advantage of our trust and loyalty to manipulate the whole country. This is the most frightening lesson of the Cultural Revolution: Without a sound legal system, a small group or even a single person can take control of an entire country (Jiang 266)." Secondly, the books inform the readers of communism, power, and government control. Also they inform the readers of how knowledge of reading could help them become a better person. In Fahrenheit 451 the government is used as propaganda to manipulate the opinions of the people. In Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, the government burns the books. By doing this a vast amount of information is destroyed, from literature books and playwrights to philosophical works to information about government policies. Lastly, the books explain the main characters' attitude toward the situation. For example, "Destroying the Four Olds was a new battle, and an important one: It would keep China from losing her Communist ideals. Though we were not facing real guns or real tanks, this battle would be even harder, because our enemies, the rotten ideas and customs we were so used to, were inside ourselves (Jiang 28–29)." In the beginning Ji–Li Jiang feels loyal to the revolution until ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Unnecessary Destruction of Hiroshima On August 6th, 1945, at 8:15 Japan time, the United States dropped an atomic bomb named "Little Boy" on Hiroshima, Japan. Little Boy was dropped from the Enola Gay, from 31,000ft and detonated at 1,900ft above Hiroshima. Dropping the atomic bomb destroyed the city, ruined and negatively changed people's lives, and killed thousands of people. Some say it was necessary to drop it because of the lives it saved. It didn't save lives. It was unnecessary to drop the atomic bomb because of the amount of destruction and lives it ruined. The atomic bomb caused a lot of unnecessary destruction when it was dropped on Hiroshima. It had destroyed houses and work buildings in Hiroshima, such as the hospital in which Dr. Fujii lived and worked. Dr. Fujii's hospital was smashed "all around him in a mad assortment of splintered lumber and materials for the relief of pain" (John Hersey, 11). Buildings were blown apart, caught fire, and completely obliterated. Two–thirds of Hiroshima were demolished. Out of the 90,000 buildings in Hiroshima, 60,000 buildings were destroyed within a three mile radius of the epicenter. The havoc could have been avoided by not dropping the atomic bomb. Many people had their lives unfairly changed and even ruined from the atomic bomb. The victims of radiation poisoning and burns had to deal with disfiguring ailments. They had dark burns across their bodies. Their hair burned off. Skin drooped from the radiation and blast. The bomb also irradiated the people nearby ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Gregory Lee Johnson People watched in shock; Protesters and none protesters circled around as Gregory Lee Johnson lit the American Flag on fire. Why would a man disrespect a symbol such as the American flag, that represents freedom, liberty and democracy? Was he protected by the constitution's first amendment? The Supreme Court answered all these questions we had by voting in favor of Johnson. Johnson's intentions were only political, and he as the freedom of speech. The Supreme Court was correct on this decision on letting Johnson go, since he was protected by his amendments, and no matter what the action was, if the amendment gives us the right, we should be entitled to our freedoms. In August of 1984, supporters came to Dallas Texas to come to the Republican National Convention, where President Ronald Reagan was being elected to run for president for a second round. Outside of these supporters for the presidential leaders were protesters. These protesters were angry with the new Reagan Policies. Protesters marched the streets chanting "Red, white, and blue, we spit on you!" Kicking over flower pots, spray painting walls, and they acted out nuclear attacks. When the protesters came to the front of city hall, 100 people circled around to watch a man by the name of Gregory Lee Johnson pour kerosene over an American Flag and begin to burn it. Many people stood in awe as Johnson stood next to our desecrating flag. 45 minutes after Johnson was arrested by Texas police. The aftermath of the flag ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Revelation, When The Fifth Seal Is Being Open By Jesus The... According to the Book of Revelation, when the sixth seal is being open by Jesus the Manhattan Project is already in the thought planning phase. In June 1942, God's strategy proves the Manhattan Project is, a methodical effort run by the military [under great secrecy], and once complete will be a turning point in World War II . In other words, in John's vision, the sixth seal is a warning to all humans that any problem of any hour is solvable, and for those who are no longer part of his Kingdom of God, will be cast out for eternity. One of the most characteristic features of the Manhattan Project is not to understand the weapons impending doom, but is a divine purpose, that if anyone who fails to understand the significance of the project's truth will not know the full extent of God's purpose. With the United State scientists and the military, no introduction is necessary, since it's beginnings, the project is part of several espionage attacks from other countries, for the reasons they know any completion of the project will be synonymous with an end to the Antichrist's time. Yet, the project as a great evil will damn the souls of thousands by exchanging counterfeit solutions for natural human problems that will ordinarily lead a person to God but will all be part of superstitious darkness for decades to come. While this project, interferes with each person, it does send whole populations to look for a savior, not of divine power, but to the President of the United States ... • 5. Why Is Joe Jackson Banned In 1919 The 1919 White Sox––the White Sox of Eddie Collins, Eddie Cicotte, Dickie Kerr, Ray Schalk, Buck Weaver and "Shoeless" Joe Jackson––are considered by baseball historians to be one of the greatest teams ever to take the field (Solomon). The "Black" Sox were the major favorites of the World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. Chicago had the better pitching, the better hitting, and the better fielding, but they somehow lost. The "Black" Sox lost in eight games, back in 1919 the only playoff series they was the World series so they played a max of nine games. A few months after the Reds won the World Series, on December fifteenth, 1919, "The New York World published an explosive article by Hugh Fullerton suggesting the the World Series was fixed" (Linder). This article shocked the entire United States. Newspapers across America had the fix on the cover of their paper. There were eight men on that Chicago team that supposedly threw the1919 World Series. One of those men being: Joe Jackson. "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, a former Major League Baseball player, who is said to have the skills that rival those of the great Babe Ruth, was wrongfully banned from the MLB and did not throw the 1919 world series because of the gambling, his statistics, and trial. Johnson said "The atomic bomb certainly is the most powerful of all weapons, but it is conclusively powerful and effective only in the hands of the nation which controls the sky". World War II was a revolutionary era in combat mode, as this new era had the advantages of new technology in weapons and combat techniques. The decision of President Truman to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, it was to hasten the end of the war by an overwhelming show of force and also, to curb the massive US casualties in the Pacific front. • 7. Vice President of the United States and Task Force 9–494–015 REV: OCTOBER 15, 2004 JOHN J. GABARRO Aston–Blair, Inc. Bringing Aston–Blair 's June 12 executive committee meeting to a close Wynn Aston, III, chief executive officer and chairman of the board, asked Peter Casey, vice president of marketing, and Chris Trott, vice president of corporate planning, to seriously reexamine the company 's procedures for forecasting sales. Aston hoped that improved product demand projections would lead to better inventory control, financial planning, and production scheduling. Aston–Blair had suffered significant losses in the first quarter of 2004 and expected even greater losses in the second quarter (the first losses the company had experienced since 1975). Aston felt that poor forecasting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The success of Aston–Blair's other films often depended upon the timing and popularity of major new releases by its rivals, making accurate forecasting difficult. Moreover, as the firm has tried to increase sales growth, it has introduced more completely new titles and relied less on sequels to past hits. The increasing emphasis on new titles has further complicated forecasting efforts. The combination of declining demand and Aston's Blair's overly optimistic sales forecasts for the first two quarters of 2004 had resulted in excessive inventories and sizable losses. Aston–Blair 's current problems stood in dramatic contrast with the company 's recent record of outstanding growth and profitability. Aston 's great grandfather founded the company in 1910 as a producer of children's books, and as the company evolved into multimedia, it had always enjoyed a reputation for being a premiere supplier. • 8. Economic Effect of Atomic Bomb viernes, 31 de agosto de 2012 Economic effects of the atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki The morning of 6 of August 1945 a single atomic bomb called "Little Boy" exploded over the city of Hiroshima at 8:15, devastating almost the entire metropolis. "Little Boy" was 10 feet long, weighted 9,000 pounds, and was dropped from a height of 31,600 feet, exploding at 2,000 above Hiroshima with the force of 20K tons of TNT. A conventional bomb would have destroyed only the wooden structures within a 40 meters radius, but the atomic bomb that smashed Hiroshima was able to affect everything within a radius of 2 kilometers of the point of explosion. Altogether an area of 13 square kilometers was reduced to ashes and 80% of the 76,000... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 13 Jul. 2005 <http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/abomb/mp07.htm#h>. By the time spring of 1946 arrived, the citizens of Hiroshima were surprised to find the landscape dotted with the blooming red petals of the oleander. The oleander flower, called the kyochikuto in Japanese, dispelled worries that the destroyed city had lost all its fertility and inspired the population with hope that Hiroshima would soon recover from the tragic bombing. Now the official flower of Hiroshima, the oleander offers a beautiful symbol for the city as a whole; while some feared that the city and its population were irreparably destroyed–permanently cut off from normality by the effects of radiation–many would be surprised to learn of the limited long term health effects the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 have had. Within the first few months after the bombing, it is estimated by the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (a cooperative Japan–U.S. organization) that between 90,000 and 166,000 people died in Hiroshima, while another 60,000 to 80,000 died in Nagasaki. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, global warming is defined as "the recent and ongoing rise in global average temperature near Earth 's surface" (EPA.gov, 2014). Humans are considered to be a big reason for this rise in temperatures over the last forty years. This is due to our extensive use of using fuels for energy that release carbon dioxide , also called the greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere. Every car driven on the road releases this substance as well as fuels used to heat homes and provide power to our everyday lives. There are also other factors that play a role into this explosion of rising temperatures. The EPA website states, "The majority of greenhouse gases come from burning fossil fuels to produce energy, although deforestation, industrial processes, and some agricultural practices also emit gases into the atmosphere" (EPA.gov, 2014). Trees are the atmospheres filter for carbon dioxide but when we continually dump more and more of this gas into the air and cut down more and more of the forests the balance of the Earth becomes skewed and the temperatures increase. There are other factors to consider that can create fire. These other factors have people questioning whether global warming is real. Three Examples Of Dystopian Fiction Science fiction is a genre of writing involving plots and themes related to future scientific advances and major social changes, often coming from the author's imagination rather than from factual knowledge. With the advancement of Man's knowledge resulting from the scientific revolution, fictional predictions about the future resulted in believable new works of science fiction. Some authors pictured future technologies that would benefit mankind in some way or would let mankind explore new boundaries that had previously limited the human experience. One of these authors was Jules Verne whose imagination allowed him to pen ideas about electrical submarines and solar sails. However, other authors envisioned a bleak dystopian world in which mankind has lost many important objects, and sometimes intangible values as well. The city is pretty much utterly destroyed, and thousands died. Though there are some survivors of the blast, they still are suffering from burns and injuries. This book goes through the lives of six of the survivors. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura is watching her neighbors kids when the bomb detonated. The house was destroyed and they were all covered with debris. Father Kleinsorge was ill for many years after the event, he was in and out of the hospital. Miss Sasaki became a nun, helping people to die in peace. Dr. Fujii died of cancer. Mr. Tanimoto, the reverend, he traveled to America a few time trying to raise money to aid the hibakusha, he then retired. Professional Review Hiroshima was, as I'm sure Hersey hoped, an eye–opening read. Hersey's style provided for not only an interesting story, but also a very personalized, journalistic view of the event and its aftermath. I'd strongly recommend the book to others; on the front cover, the Saturday Review of Literature is quoted as saying, "Everyone able to read should read it," and I agree. If we do not wish to see such death, devastation, and despair again, in our "civilized" world, we need accounts like this to educate us. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer and primarily caused by exposure to the ultra violet radiation produced by the sun. The two most common types of non– melanoma skin cancers are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Basal cell carcinoma usually forms in the areas exposed to the sun like the head and ears. It is slow growing and accountable for roughly seventy five percent of all skin cancers. Squamous cell carcinoma also forms in thin areas exposed to the sun like the face, lips and nose. It is more aggressive and unlike basal it can spread to other areas of the body. Lesser known non melanoma cancers are Karposi Sarcoma found predominately in HIV patients. The deadliest form of skin cancer is melanoma which accounts for only four percent of all skin cancers but accounts for seventy nine percent of all deaths attributed to skin cancer. • 28. Vietnamese Traditional Wedding : Chinese Culture, And... Vietnamese traditional wedding. Wedding day is the most important day for couples. But for Vietnamese people the wedding ceremony is not only important for couple but also for both families. I would like to share with everybody about Vietnamese traditional wedding. Most Vietnamese traditions and cultures have influenced by Chinese culture until today, so the wedding ceremony is also affected. Unlike the Western culture, in Vietnam after the bride was proposed by the groom, groom and his family have to go to the bride's home to ask for wedding. The wedding ceremony is only carried out with the consent of the bride and the groom family. Based on tradition and religion, marriage is organized according to different rituals. There are two main ceremonies are betrothal ceremony and wedding ceremony. I will talk about the first main part is the betrothal ceremony. The betrothal day is the day that the groom's family would go to bride's home with the gift of betel and areca to officially ask permission to receive the bride. Betel and areca are the special image of the couple, indispensable in the traditional betrothal ceremony. At that time, bride's family would confirm and pick a good day for wedding. For the Vietnamese, harmony between yin and yang is a very important factor. Choosing the wedding day will be based on the lunar calendar with age, date of birth of the bride and groom. This choice will be decided by the monks, or by the eldest of the two families. The wedding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Canada Swot Analysis Following the Second World War, Canada has made various efforts to improve its peacekeeping reputation, and beginning with them joining the United Nations (UN) after its creation in 1945, they were mostly successful. However, not all of their efforts have been successful; they have also made some mistakes along the way. A few examples of Canada's efforts within the last 60 years include the Suez Crisis in 1956, the United Nations Mission for Rwanda from 1993 to 1996 and United Nations Operation in Somalia in 1992. In only 1,332 games played Jackson has a career .356 batting average, had 1,772 hits and 785 RBI. It may be hard to understand why such a great player was banned from the game and is not allowed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In the beginning when gunpowder was discovered the Chinese would stuff bamboo with gunpowder and then light the bamboo to make a firework. Over time, scientist have mixed different materials together to try and make a louder and brighter explosion. Instead of fireworks having a single casing there is multiple casings. This helps fireworks to not explode all at once. Noises are also a big deal, in the beginning, it was crackling noises, over time scientist have discovered that the more gunpowder you use the louder it gets. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are 7 key factors to the successful combustion of fireworks. The first is fuel that burns the star. The most common type of fuel is charcoal, however, black powder or gunpowder will also work. Next, oxidisers are vital because they provide oxygen that will stabilize the combustion of fuel. Reducing agents, another part of the composition of a firework, burn the oxygen provided by the oxidiser in order to create hot gasses. Then, regulators are metals that control the speed of the reaction. Next, one of the most important parts of the composition is the colouring agents. These are what cause fireworks to have color. Certain elements will make certain colors such as, Strontium causes red, Copper makes blue, Barium creates green, Sodium forms yellow, Calcium produces orange, and Iron provides gold. Combining Strontium and Copper will give off the color purple. A binder is the next item of the composition. Binders secure the composition with a pasty substance like dextrin, paron, gum, or resin. • 36. The Negative Effects Of Nuclear Weapons In a split second, a single atomic bomb can wipe out and level an entire city. For what purpose do nuclear weapons serve other than to kill and destroy? Therefore, nuclear weapons should not be produced, much less used, anywhere on Earth. They are incredibly dangerous and devastating to human life, cause social tension between countries during times of war, and leave toxic radiation in the environment that fatally affects nearby life for decades after. Nuclear weapons harness nuclear reactions to generate their power. There are two types: fission/atom bombs, which use nuclear fission, or thermonuclear/hydrogen bombs. Which use nuclear fusion (Cochran & Norris 1). Nuclear weapons are classified as weapons of mass destruction and are the most dangerous weapons ever created. As of now, there are about 9,495 known, unretired nuclear weapons; 4,300 in Russia, 4,000 in the US, 60 in North Korea, etc. (Gould 7). In 1970, the Treaty on the Non–Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which was created to limits the increase of nuclear weapons, went into effect and has been signed by the US, Russia, the UK, etc. (Nuclear Threat Initiative 1–3).
