INTRODUCTION TO CIVIL SECTOR:
Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals
with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally
built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and
buildings.
 Introduction Video of Civil Engineering -

WHAT IS CONSTRUCTION …?
 The building of something, typically a large
  structure.

 Clearing, excavating, and grading of land and
  other activity associated with buildings,
structures, or other types of real property such as
  bridges, dams, roads.
 Construction industry is the second largest industry of the
    country.

 Integral part of country’s infrastructure and industrial
    development.

 It includes hospitals, schools, townships, offices, houses and
    other building.
TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION :

In general, there are three types of construction:

      Building construction

      Heavy / civil construction

      Industrial construction
CONSTRUCTION SECTOR:
 Construction accounts for over 50% of national
    capital investment in most countries.
 It provides about 7% world employment.
 The construction industry offers the much needed
employment for a large number of the world’s
    poorest people.
 It also employs a large number of female workers.
WHY CONSTRUCTION???
 Development of world class infrastructure is
required to achieve faster growth of the economy.
 Considering the critical need of developing
infrastructure in the country, construction activities
are crucial for creation physical infrastructure in
    the country.

GLOBAL CONSTRUCTION 2020
 Growth in Asian powerhouses and a cyclical rebound in the us will
fuel massive growth in world construction over next 10 years.

 Global construction to grow by 70% from $7.2 trillion today to
$12 trillion by 2020.

 China, US and India generate over half of the $4.8 trillion growth.

 The construction sector worldwide currently accounts for more
than 11% of global GDP and the report predicts that it will account
for 13.2% of world GDP by 2020.
